ECO-VILLAGE DAY
The first day in April may be April Fool’s Day, but in Buyukkkonuk it’s going to be a special day at the village Sunday Market. It’s the 7th year since we were declared an ECO-VILLAGE and we’re celebrating!
Starting at 11:00 and going until 16:00, there will be lots to see and learn about being an ECO-VILLAGE. There will be demonstrations in traditional cooking methods, like making hellim cheese or baking bread in a traditional oven. We’ll show you how to make macaroni by hand or shape mud bricks, as well as make a straw sesta tray.
There will also be information on ecological matters, like composting, energy conservation, alternative energies and rainwater collection.
Bring your bike to ride around the village field roads or join a guided walk to Panayia Tou Krya (Byzantine chapel dedicated to the Virgin Mary) in Sazlikoy. We’ll also have donkey rides for kids.
There will be lots of traditional food and produce to enjoy at the Market. So bring the family for a fun day out in a beautiful part of Karpaz. Come to Buyukkonuk on April 1st for our special EC0-VILLAGE Sunday Market party.
