We are visiting at the end of Feb 09, can stay HB in the Malpas for £60 per night or HB in the Acapulco at £48 per night. If you have stayed at these hotels please can you give any form of recommendation. We have previously stayed at both the Ship and the Sempati and had good stays at both hotels, would like to try East of Girne this time with buying in Bahceli. Thank you in advance. Beths

ACAPULCO - Holiday camp type atmosphere, masses of people, water slides & good beach. Bit rough round the edges though MALPAS - Definate 5 star, great breakfast, more sophisticated, smart pools, not on beach, but less riff raff & less crowded. Not perfect but still best hotel in NC. For me MALPAS wins hands down. As if you want to go to ACAPULCO for beach etc you can pay daily. But hey, it depends who you are & what type of hotel you want...

Just wondering how important sandy beach might be in February? The last time I was there in Feb, it was freezing. Would have thought hotel facilities would matter more at that time of the year? J

The only hotel I would recommend is the Dome, it is central, the beds are the most comfortable and the food is very good...the staff treat you like one of the family and you get wonderful sea views...and it is a cooperative so you are helping the cypriots.

Both of them have the same tactic, lure you in with cheap offers half board then charge you 10 ytl for a pint just under £4.50 and 22 ytl just under a tenner for a gin and tonic, hoping you will drink while eating your evening meal, if you have a couple of pints and a couple of spirits whilst having your meal it works out as much as eating out.

Stayed at both, no comparison. Malpas miles ahead on everything. Malpas has an excellent beach club opened last July, free shuttle and frre to residents. Also stayed at the Dome, good for centre of town but VERY tired, needs a big refit.

I want to admit that I have a travel agent and Acapulco and Malpas are the most popular two hotels. We do get lots of questions about comparing Acapulco and Malpas. Personally, I recommend Malpas for Winter and Acapulco during Summer as the beach is just the best. So, for February, go with Malpas and I think we offer the best rate for Malpas at the moment: http://www.goNorthCyprus.com

Staying at the Malpas in February so very interesting to read comments as it was down to these two. Malpas was doing a good deal, so took advice from people posting. Many Thanks!
