We have booked a flight with Pegasus and sent an email to them asking if we can bring over a tv, well packaged and put in 'special baggage'. I am not sure if they had understood my question as had a reply that didn't seem to correspond to my original enquiry! Does anyone know how we could bring over a used flat screen TV, weighing about 7kg, without trying to squash it in a suitcase? Thanks in anticipation.

We took over a 26 flat screen by keeping in it's original box & polystyrene, then stuffing bedding around it inside the box. We wrapped and sellotaped it well with black polythene & printed A4 labels with 'Kolay Kirilir' & 'Fragile Handle with Care' stuck all over. We then put it through with our suitcases as part of our allowance. Nothing was damaged and we collected it from the conveyor belt along with our suitcases. We did fly with KTHY but I believe the principle to be the same.

Hi Yep UK tvs do work, but you may need to get cable or satellite I'd imagine. Much, much cheaper than buying in TRNC! Much cheaper to bring them over and perfect as they have a three pin plugs like all our electric sockets have in the apartment.

The main restiction will be size of package and it not wighing over 32 Kg for handling rules. I would suggest that you use the fragile handling route in Stansted (it costs no more) labeling it well is a good idea both Fragile and some sort of identification. Do pack it well and add thorough protection as it might be handled a number of times by people who are very rushed and do not care for your property as you do. If you go overweight all airlines are getting tougher and charging excess baggage. Do remember the tax aspect on the import as Msg 6

I actually saw someone leaving Ercan with a whole fire surround once. We flew with Pegasus earlier this month with a large box containing 16 solar garden lanterns well packaged and labeled with the aforementioned fragile labels. All arrived safely with no damage at all.
