We flew from Ercan to Dalaman to spend 5 wonderful days in the mountains just outside Fethiye, 45 mins in the air, now that's the kind of flight I like! Nick

Hi Steve1953, I know you can sail to Israel and Egypt from Limmasol in the south. There is also a Ferry from Famagusta to Syria. Last October we visited Istanbul flying with Pegasus. You can also catch a ferry to Antalya in Turkey or fly to many regional airports in Turkey from Ercan. Once we live there full time, we hope to visit most of the countries you can easily get to from NC. The Butlers wife.

re msg 1 Steve I have flown from Ercan / Tymbou to Dalaman - like SKYbluesam- with Cyprus Turkish airlines and found the return flight was one of THE worst flights I ever had re service..the outward was fine.. and the views fantastic- esp the gulf of Fethiye where I was going sailing I was allocated a seat - but the flight was from the UK - via Dalaman- and the seat was full of everyone's finished meals that hadn't been cleared up.. now I fly in Russia and Ukraine and see better service.. NEVER again - OK it could have been a one off, but the staff that day were so lazy and never smiled. After that always flew Turkish Airways - THY apparently stands for they hate you - but I found the stds better. WHY oh WHY do flights from Istanbul to CY have to depart from the farthest gates? I flew many times from the "rump" RoC - to most of the destinations you mentioned and see no reason why you can't use any of the CY airports ;)

re 8 sorry that reads "hard" and it wasn't intended - you could use "rump" RoC airports for convenience if you wish - would have been more appropriate..! I'd really love an edit feature...

Would be very reluctant to use the airports in the South as their overall safety record is well below TRNC standards.

re msg 10 cjtill "Would be very reluctant to use the airports in the South as their overall safety record is well below TRNC standards." :D and this would be based on WHAT supporting evidence? .. The Helios flight... ? I fly from loads of airports and LCA / PFO are not on my list of ones I'd want to avoid, and this has nothing to do with politics.. Do you SERIOUSLY think UK civilian flights go to "dangerous" airports

OK Andre, Thanks.. I flew on this airline a lot and even soon AFTER the tragic events and a lot of crap will come out re "fault" .. It even involves some British staff who serviced the plane - who left CY PDQ ..

we spend all our time trying to get people to come here, once they are here for good bordem can set in. Most of the travel agents can organise trips anywhere in the world from here, but of course ıt will more expensive than doing it from the uk. We sell tours worldwide - Paris disney land with flights for 3\ 4 nights can be 200 euros but that is from turkey - you have to get to turkey - wıth good times for connecting flights etc... you may have to pay for hotels ın istanbul aswell adding to the cost. Personally from here İ think Turkey is the best place to go and explore. İ know of some great tour operators , or great hotels if you want to come for a chat - also have some fab turkish tourist ınfo free of charge - come and see me at polatkan tourizm on the pia bella round about - happy to plant the seed.......libby

re msg 22 CJtill "As I said before the safety record out of the South is below the standards in the north FACT, No argument, no debate, but true. ".... No, what you said was... "Would be very reluctant to use the airports in the South as their overall safety record is well below TRNC standards." You criticised the std of the safety of the AIRPORT.. That is and was RUBBISH ... now you seem to be inferring it is not AS safe to fly from.. What is your evidence. for your "facts" ? The Helios flight?..
