Hi all

Does anyone know the cheapest airline at the moment as I awaiting a reply from the Pia Bella on this but judging by other peoples comment in other topics regarding this it seems it is a bit hit & miss but I know I would like to go around the middle of September 15/16th.

I have got a good price for the hotel but it is all dependent on the cost of flights compared to booking a package with Cyprus Premier or Green Island.

Any thoughts or suggestions most welcome.

Many thanks

Hi Cronos

Seems the prices fluctuate quite frequently. Someone suggested enlisted the help of one of the people on these forums but have forgotten his nickname. Something like flightdeal or flightman ?

Thanks for the info all the same & will let you know if I can get it cheaper anywhere else ?

Might still book a package but if the flights are reasonably priced when I book I may go independent.

What do you think ?

Hi Lilli

Thats right but the searching I have just completed. Pegasus £189 RTN September 15/16th but the return fare is always the killer.

What seems the best days to fly out of Stansted & what would you say the best days are to return because Sunday flights out of Ercan are quite steep ?

Sorry but meant to say by the searching I have done nothing cheaper than around £189 with Pegasus unless anybody else has found better in September ?

Hi Chick

Have spoken to Tom who recommended I go on a package with CTA Holidays although they could not quite match the price of Cyprus Premier at the Pia Bella Half Board & Superior Room but he gave ge a very competetive price with regards to flights with Pegasus compared to independently booking the hotel & them arranging the flights.

He did say that if I go this route & book the hotel & flights seperately I would not be covered by ATOL. Is this correct ?

If I book the hotel & the reservation manager at the hotel arranges the flights will I be ATOL protected ?

Does anybody know the circumstances surrounding these issue ?

Any help of info most appreciated

Message 7 - we found the return Sunday flights to be a bit steep too, so we are returning on the Monday.

Hope this helps.

Hi all

Have been doing research all afternoon on flights to Ercan out of Stansted & found several mystifying issues.

Firstly flying with CTA you land at Antalya before going on to Ercan whereas with Pegasus it is Istanbul, probably not a problem for most, but did not realise this.

Secondly flying on the dates I have requested and navigating KTHY.NET I also found that going out is as above but coming back on Sunday 27th September you go via Dalaman Airport.

Several tour operators I have contacted today offer fairly similiar deals but Cyprus Premier aka Cyprus Paradise only really use CTA.

Flight times are normally better with CTA also & when packaged with Cyprus Premier they are all at sensible times of the day.

KTHY.NET have just quoted me £488 for 2 flying from Stansted to Ercan & back through Dalaman.

Holidayflghts.co.uk quoted me £518 RTN

Just thought I would mention this in case anybody knows something different ?

Many thanks for any inf

Just looked at pegasus at the dates you quoted earlier and it is coming up at £438, it doest matter where you stop of in Turkey they use different at various times.

Hi again Chick

See exactly what you mean. Depends on what time of year you want to travel I suppose. Just that whenever I have gone through one of the tour operators to TRNC apart from one occasion when we did stop-off at Istanbul I have always gone via Antalya.

I have been over 9 times to various locations & apart from last year when we went to The Villa Club who arranged the flights from Luton to Larnaca which meant the restrictions on bringing stuff back (what a nightmare) I prefer mainly Antalya - Ercan. I suppose that's the way it is now to keep the costs down ?

Anyway I am not that bothered as long as I can get the cheapest flight lol.

Spoke to Tom as you suggested and was extremely helpful but suggested that it might be better to book a package with CTA Holidays but also gave me a reasonable price on a Pegasus flight on the dates I provided.

Many thanks for your help

By the way the hotel manager at the Pia Bella quoted me an astonishing £350 pp but with the cost of the accommodation it worked out all inclusive with flights an extra £8 pp for a 10 night stay H/B superior room with free transfers so nothing in it.

But can't work out where they are getting their flight prices from hence me looking for cheaper alternatives.

Hope this makes sense as I am not that good at this lol.

Thanks for being so patient

Knightrider - I (and most others I imagine) agree that it's preferable, if you can, to travel via Antalya or Dalaman. Drawback with Istabul is that you often have to get off the plane, go into Istanbul airport and then come out and get back on a plane (not necessarily the same one). This can be a pain, especially if you have to hang about in the airport for a few hours.

But I take your point that so long as you can get a good deal on the flight prices, you can handle it.

Happy hunting!

Hi lulubell

That is very good but that is also dependent on what dates you are travelling ?

What dates are you going & it is varies according to the times of day / night you will be departing / arriving ?

Let me know if you do not mind because I find it hard to believe this is in September ?

Best wishes all the same

Green Island Holidays usually do a better rate on a package than flight plus hotel (and we have stayed at the Pia Bella a few times). I fly with them again Wednesday 27th, Peggy plus majestic in Bogaz, still cheaper than separate deals. But phone green island and they can often do a better deal than on their website. HTH

Hi guiness

I've heard quite a lot about Bogaz being the up & coming place as when I last went through Bogaz they was doing a hell of a lot of work there.

What is the Majestic like as we have considered it before over 3 years ago mind ?

Will contact Green Island & see what they can offer over the phone.

Are you booking direct with Majestic & what is it like ?

Hi,

The Wicks - change of plane only applies to some flights with Turkish airlines in Istanbul.

Knightrider - I am sure you will find other people with other offerings but you might want to look at service, experience etc etc too.

Please remember that superior rooms and half board seem a little silly (if nice) when you will hopefuly be spending most waking hours wondering round a lovely town or visiting Bellapais driving into the Karpas and meals out are often better and better value than ones in any hotel - there are some excelent places to eat in and around Kyrenia.

The hotel cannot offer you an ATOL bonded package.

A good tour operator can offer you lots of help when needed as we do from the UK (hopefully you never need it) a hotel or DIY can leave you without this type of experience and backup. We tend to offer CTA Holidays, holidays as they have more experience than most of their competitors at a good price.

Hi flightholiday

Many thanks for all the info provided today & I did manage to pick up your message regarding the ATOL bond.

Looks as though I will be booking a package although I would consider taking a calculated risk on DIY if there is such a thing as a calculated risk lol.

I haven't tried Green Island yet to check their prices although I do not think they could beat some of the other tour operators ?

If I was to go with CTA in the Pia Bell on a b&b basis what places come highly recommended at the moment for both price and atmosphere.

Any suggestions most welcome so as I can make a note as I am definitely going whatever way I get there.

Hi Knightrider

Msg 24 I would not be happy if I was flightholiday (who seem to have given you good advice) for you to say that you now want their advice on their suppliers competition (Green Island).

Advice on places with atmosphere - that is to be found on many other threads and it would be personal choice.

My humble thought, go with Tom he has a reputation for being reliable, helpful and his price is probably reasonable.

Hi Cyprusquest

msg 27 and take your point but did not realise they were direct competition (Green Island) & my apologies to flightholiday.

Assumed this was just a flight enquiry & nothing else but still accept your point as Tom was first class with his advice

Hi again Cyprusquest

Will more than likely do that anyway but it doesn't hurt to get prices for flights & see the various times / prices etc from the different airlines at various times as I am not fully committed to when I will be going exactly. Just know I want to go later in the year.

Many thanks for the advice guys

Msg 33 Hi LuLuBell

I can see where Cyprusquest got the thought from as I read one way out 105 + one way return 185 too.

The main thing is I can often offer the same or less to Ercan [as could any other agent] IF you BOOK EARLY enough.

i.e. Current price right now for a return STN ECN STN for one person 11-18 February £195.00 had you booked when the flights came out it could have been lower than £145.00 (only one level lower was offered) As we have a booking fee we would have added £20 (one person or 10 the same fee.)

If it is with two seperate airlines then you do not have quite the same emotional clout if things are going wrong as if you keep it to one (which we try to do). So try to keep to one airline even if it is a little more!

Hi again

Due to the price fluctuations on what seems like an hour by hour basis there is no real definitive price guide on these flights but as flightholiday has stipulated the earlier you book the better & IMHO if you want to travel at sensible times & want a stop-off in Antalya rather than Istanbul etc you have to pay a small premium full stop.

Many thanks for all the info as this can only give your more knowledge of this situation by doing the research anyway

Cheers guys
