Take your passport to the British High Commission in South Nicosia and they will sort you out. I think that you need to make your application at least 3 months before your passport expires.

| vee123 I renewed my British Passport last year, you take your existing passport to the High Commissions in Nicosia, you fill in a form, mine took 10 days then they ring you to say its ready for collection. Mine had 1 month left before it expired. They are so helpful, if you need directions Go to the big roundabout (with the rocks) Lefkosa take 2nd turn off go straight pass Hospital keep going you will be in a two lane traffic, keep to the right hand lane, and at the lights you turn right, go over a small roundabout till the end of the road and the British High Commission is on your right. | You will require 2 passport photos, signed and verified. Would suggest you go to the BHC and get the form initially, it gives you all the info you require. it's quite expensive to renew and payment will be required in Euros. |

I have just renewed mine, the form is downloadable from the internet. fill the form out, get a witness to sign the back of one of the two photos required (anyone as long as they have known you for 3 years i think). Make sure the photos conform to the requirements stated and when you sign the form make sure your signature does not touch or go outside of the border of the box where you are required to sign. Cost has been 'revised' and at the 13/01/2009 it was €137 (Euros) for the basic passport and they will not accept any other currency. At the time I renewed mine it took 3 working days. AJ

Can you advise the from number for downloading from the Internet or the site? All I can come up with is on-line applications which they will then post on. Also, one of the questions i "Do you currently reside in the UK?" As I no longer have a UK address and am only a temp resident here in TRNC, would that pose a problem? Thanks in advance

Think I've just found the form -C1 - if this is the correct one I found it under "British High commission in Cyprus". Is your old passport returned as this contains residency stamps?

yorkie C1 is correct and your old passport is returned with your new one and you should always carry both passports with you when departing/arriving the TRNC. It is always advisable to retain a postal address in the UK. AJ

When I did mine, I had not known anyone here for a reasonable length of time. I explained this at the High Commission and they said, it's no problem, as you will be handing it to a member of staff, they can sign your photo, as they can see it's you! It's nice to know that some rules can be worked through. PS. You cannot take mobiles into the High Commission. PPS. You used to be able to have any Residency Stamps in your old passport, re-stamped in your new passport. This has now stopped. That's another reason why you must carry both passports until you get your next residency stamp in your new passport. Immigration will supply a letter to avoid carrying both passports, but this may have changed!

The British High Commission will send your application by courier to the Consulate-General in Madrid where it will be processed. Please note that if you do want to apply via one our local offices you will have to go in person to the office, and pay a courier fee for the delivery of the application from Cyprus to the regional passport processing centre. The fee for the passport itself, and for the return courier service from Madrid to Cyprus, will be deducted from your credit card by the regional Passport Processing Centre in Madrid. The regional Passport Processing Centre is aware that - for some customers living in Cyprus - there may be a need to keep your existing passport whilst applying for a new one. If you absolutely cannot be without your passport whilst it is being renewed and you can provide evidence of this, |

ou can attend the British High Commission in Nicosia in person and obtain a certified copy of your passport. There is a fee for this service. The British High Commission in Nicosia will send this certified copy to Madrid, along with your completed application, on your behalf. You will be required to pay the courier fee for this forwarding service. Please note that you will not be able to travel outside of Cyprus whilst your application is being processed.

32-page passports (first passport/renewal - yellow C1 form) € 161 + courier fee 48-page passports (first passport/renewal - yellow C1 form) € 195 + courier fee Passports for under 16s (first passport/renewal - pink C2 form) € 103 + courier fee How to pay Please pay using Mastercard or Visa credit/debit card. Please print a credit card payment authorisation form (there are 2 pages). Fill in your card details and complete the DHL delivery form for the return of your passport after it has been processed. You should enclose both pages with your application. Please do not send your actual credit card. Ensure you have sufficient funds available to pay using your debit/credit card or your application will be returned. Please state the applications that are included in the payment. For example, a family of two adults applying for 32-page passports, and two children under 16 should write: 2 x C1 (32 pages) + 2 x C2 + courier = € 553. Please do not send us cash by post as it will

Dear Vee123, we have just used the excellent service at the High commission in Nicosia, we applied for replacement passports, due to a burglary, and they came with 2 weeks!!! It is a bit more expensive than applying in the UK, but alll in all worth it as all your papers are approved before being sent, they are open for applications, MOn,Wed and Friday 10.30 to 12.30, this is summer hours not sure about winter hours but look on their web site. Hope this helps
