Current Tobacco Prices In TRNC

Hi all



Hoping to get over to TRNC later in the year & apart from the food prices I was wondering what the approximate costs of cigarettes & tobacco in Northern Cyprus.

In particular does anybody currently out there know the approx cost of a 200 carton of Superkings etc. Also the price of Golden Virginia 50g x 5 or x 10 ?

Any info very much appreciated.

Golden Virginia is 8.50 TL for a 50 gramme pack, lots cheaper than Uk and duty free at Manchester or Larnaca, if you fly in to Ercan, there is a booth or 2 where you can buy cigs, tobacco etc and it is cheaper still. Ciggies I believe are about 4 or 5 TL a 20 pack.

Hi KR, it is approx 3.70 pounds for tobacco and just under 2 pounds for cigarettes, lot less than UK, if you partake of alcoholic beverage wine is not as cheap as local spirits, ie vodka brandy and gin which are approx 6 tl (2.60)

and wine is from 7 or 8 tl upwards but boxes of cheap plonk 1 ltr is 1.50 pounds,

Last time I flew from Ercan maybe 9 months ago, 200 cigs was 13 gbp but allowing for increase I would think 15 or 16 gbp but a little more at supermarkets.

Old Holborn is also 8.5 YTL a pouch. It use to be much cheaper a couple of years ago until it was increased in price in one fell swoop by 70%. Papers are still cheaper in the South. We buy a box of 100 at a time.

I got 2 cartons Bensons at Ercan coming in on Jna 16th for £16 each.

Leaving on 26th I got another carton for 34.5 lira

Sorry for the late reply but many thanks for all the info guys.

Seems as though it is cheaper to buy at Ercan although over the nine years I have been going back & forth to TRNC this was never the case but I haven't been there since May last year.

barnclebill you say GV €60 how comes if you are flight into Ercan ?

The kiosk at the harbour do everything as do most shops. Best bet is to get want you want to use when you arrive at Ercan and then get at airport to take home

Many thanks for the great info & like most other people posted on this topic seems the best idea.

Do you still think it cheaper at Ercan than any other place like the kiosk mentioned ?

What about the risks involved at Stansted, although I would not push my luck at Stansted as I have been stopped before at Stansted but at that time they were quite relaxed about me bringing back 2 X 10 packs of Golden Virginia. That was in 2006 though.

Wish I could but at present under a lot of stress & it's my only vice as I do not drink. Do intend to quit but only when I'm ready or skint m8 whichever happens first LOL !!
