Has anyone moved or is considering moving from TRNC to Turkey ? Would apreciate any tips and advice from your experiences.

In particular, can we take our TRNC car and pay no duty, what about our cat, residence permits, rental costs, best areas etc.

Thanks in advance. Chaz

hi chaz

i havenet moved from trnc to turkey but moved from the uk to turkey!!

but i do know your residence visas in cyprus wont work in turkey, you will have to apply for new turkish residence visas it is the same procedure u have to show your title deeds or rental agreement, copy of your bank statements and copies of passports aswell as money u can obtain resi visas from 1 to 5 year, 1 years cost 850ytl to 5 years costing 2600ytl, you can take the car accross but can only have it in the country for 6months so its not worth it and remember turkey all drive on the left and cars are left hand drive

on a average depending what area u choose rental is is from 700ytl for a 2 bed apartment to 1200ytl for a 4 bedroom villa, best areas depend what you are looking for most expats choose areas like fethiye, bodrum, marmaris, altinkum, kussadasi

hope this help if you need any further info on turkey please dont hesitate in contacting me

warm regards

UK Turk, thanks for the info. Do you still have to have the health checks in Turkey?

Hi, good to have you back ukturk and would like more info on Turkey. We believe that the cost of living is cheaper and bank interest rates are lower and need to know cos we have to live on our savings due to the work problems. Could I ask, are you Turkish and which part do you live in? Obviously I can email you if you'd prefer to keep your personal details confidential. We were wondering about Izmir as our friend is returning there in a year's time and raves about it, although she was born there which helps. What is the price of cars compared to here? Also if you want a furnished house, is this much more expensive? Do you know of a web site/forum to learn more about Turkey? Getting tired of no progress here with "direct flights", and having to go without so many things plus the cost of living which is ridiculous now. For my family to visit here they would need to do 3 flights each way from channel islands to uk then to Turkey then Ercan. Lunacy as they'd get to USA quicker.

Hi,

my partner & I recently went out to Turkey to "sound" it out. We found the cost of living there to be lower than here, cheaper house prices and of course, cheaper, direct flights.

What really sways it for me is the fact that the local goverments are directly answerable to Ankarra so no more "made up for the Brits" charges & taxes!

What the Turkish resident pays...the British residents pays.
