Its okay that Autan spray ...very effective, but it really makes me choke! It is very very strong, and I use it sparingly ..is there anything just as effective, but more natural. Bearing in mind I suffer from sensitive skin, so oils are a no no!

Message 13 - wouldn't worry too much about the Mozzies - at least you can keep them at bay a bit with conventional repellents. It's the ba....d sandflies you need to be concerned about! They seem to be immune to just about everything you can spray at them, screens do little to keep them out and their bites can, in some extreme cases, prove very nasty indeed. Personally, I find the blue Avon Skin-so-Soft effective. Mind you, I dollop the whole range on - shower gel, body lotion and that dry oil stuff. Happy scratching - LOL J

? Skin so soft , garlic , vit b compound none of those actually worked for me , now i wear bracelets and anklets injected with citronella plus a 5 in one plug in . Worked for me 100% , i tried and tested it personally in Africa , Also got into a single duvet cover and did the poppers up around my neck as far as i could . let the battle continue , but i think i have triumphed Good luck in your quest , Simbas

"Off" is a product made by Johnson, and helps to keep the blighters away, but the local drink Raki is very effective rubbed onto the skin.

Temps did not drop below 50 degrees this year. In the past years the temps have always been as low as 40 degrees. The rain fall has been 50% up on last year and the year before and the year before that. The locals should cast their minds back to the winter of 2003,4 and 5 when the annual rains came. There has been nothing like it since then. Obviously it depends where you live [mountain locations alot colder] but believe me in the Ozankoy area there are mossies and sandflies at the moment.

msg 11 - Chickadee. I use the local stuff that you can get in any supermarket or chemists. It usually has the name Sinkov or something similar in it and it is very cheap. I find that if I use any of the oil based formula's ie autun, jungle formula etc all that happens is in the very hot temperatures in the summer after I put it on I sweat even more because my skin cannot breath. I also take vitamin b1 from about april as it takes a month before it really gets into your system and usually finish by the end of September. It doesn't seem to stop the little critters all together but certainly reduces my intake of antibiotics as I seem to react horribly to their bites.

Agreed! Perhaps it has been the coldest NEW YEARS EVE for 13 years. The past 7 years have not been that cold. Location does determine the temp. Never had frost in Ozankoy. Also never had weather like we are having at the moment in February! Saved money this winter as not had the need to put the central heating on. Open log fire has been sufficient.

Something has arrived, I have a few bites from some creature already. Pharmacy at Catalkoy gives an injection and its brilliant. My symptoms disappear immediately and no more bites. Located almost opposite turning for Olive Tree Casino. The injection cost 10YTL last year.

carmel, Are you saying that if we have the injection it will stop the reaction we get when bitten or does it stop you from getting bit in the first place, and how many times a year do you require the Injection any info will be appreciated

Hi everyone. The SSS oil spray is still being sold but the Shower creme is discontinued in England, much to my disgust I will try to stock up when I get an offer in the reps book and bring extra few over. I've recommended it so many freinds the extra's go so quick. JJ

Hi Smithy, for me it immediately stops the reaction to bites and I think stops further bites, or maybe its just the reaction stops, either way I find it great as I do get a nasty reaction to them. I am unsure how long it is effective, I think this is an individual thing, some will say it lasts for a month but I find it lasts longer. Well worth it regardless how long it lasts.

Hi mozzie haters take garlic capsules and vitamin B1 500mg to prevent bites, It takes a week or so to get into your system, the garlic might repeat on you for a short while, but trust me it works. Also drink lots of fluid with lemon and lime inc, Simbas you sound so sexy covered upto your neck in netting and allsorts, but hey if it keeps the devils away be happy kind regards SAFFI
