Seriously... Please do attend if possible, not because of the possiblity of any revelations / promises from Mr Pertev, but simply to show support for the HBPG to the usual Media presence. It really is important that the media report massive support for HBPG, regardless of the outcome of the meeting - they are the best hope for so many people who have issues with property here. They need your support to raise their profile, so that they can help you. Keith.

Well said Keith, the HBPG need all the support they can get. It always amazes me the amount of people that go to them for help and advice which they give for free and yet the majority who go to them don't seem to give them any support back!

I think all need to pass on there support again to the HBPG for there efforts on finding ways forward . Maybe Rasit Pertev may have some thoughts on how he could help people the HBPG are representing , otherwise why would he be speaking .we all need to stop and think and support here keep this at the top by just popping our names for support .i will be the first . Who else ? Anita Ellis

Firestarter this is a good opportunity to get Cypriots that you know involved then. There are many UK Turkish Cypriots also who have bought here who have a vote. Myself included!

Please accept my apologies in advance for not being able to attend. Could there also be a meeting in April (and other touristy months) when I (and perhaps many others who visit) would be able to attend? When was this meeting first called? 2 days notice on this forum is rather short.

I will be going to the meeting for sure. I, for one, have received support and information from hbpg. It is not only helping me to solve property problems but is also giving me an insight into this culture plus enabling me to quickly learn the ins and outs of applying for this and that. By the way, not being able to vote has never stopped me from supporting the country in which I am residing, or from asking for help and support for the problems that we foreigners experience.

For AJ. Would you be prepared to organise a meet of 44 members attending. eg we all go with a 44 on foreheads. LOL Maybe by being organised we can get Rose, Sara, NN, etc to turn up and get to know who each of is. So the next time anyone has a go you can make an image doll of that person to stick pins in. I am sure littlenige will make an appearance possibly in his thong!!!!! I do think that by inviting politicians to such meetings they will get a better feel of what is happening to us. I know we cannot vote but we are all part of the human race, OK not all, and by talking to politicians we can only make advances. So anyone who lives here should get off there behinds, go to the wednesday market then come for a reasonably priced pint at Pia Bella.

Having attended the HBPG meeting today and listening to Mr Pertev of the Peoples Party, IMHO he is the only hope for the future of the TRNC. He seems to be the only politician who wants to do something positive and constructive for the TRNC as a whole, instead of the current government coalition and the previous government coalition who have only brought the TRNC to its knees with the economy, the construction industry, the quality of life here. Unless his party gets some MP's in parliament I fear we will be in the same if not worse position for years to come.

There are apparantly 22,000 foreign owners here and 14,000 living here so we all need to spread the word and support this party who want to stamp out the corruption here and stop the common practise of policitcal favours for votes. We need to stop the politicians lining their pockets and doing nothing but strip the TRNC bare and wreck the economy.

The party desparately needs funds to raise awareness and make a change because they are not funded from the government like the other parties who already have MP's. Anyone who wants to contribute or help can donate to the Halk Partisi Bank Account at Asbank, account no 126 8610 30193333 or speak to Mustafa 0533 8636267. Unless we make a change now, we are doomed. Steve

I was at the meeting today too, and I thoroughly agree with Stevemac in message 31 and 32 just above my message. He encouraged us to be active and to promote his views to our Turkish cypriot friends. I, for one, have already started to speak to those I know....and we may just get a surprise as to how many people will give him their support. It's certainly worth a try even if we cannot vote here right now.
