We have just had some furniture made by a carpenter in Alsancak in a walnut colour. It is made of Swedish Pine which is quite thick and heavy. If you are interested let me know and I will get contact details for you.

I have tried a few carpenters but they want an arm and a leg but are wlling to try another details please Especially if its in Alsancak (AJ would be very happy local wood for local people)

He doesn't speak English Hippo but if you speak Turkish then his name is Haci and his workshop is up the one way system next to the coffee shop and just after the post office (heading West). It is a few hundred metres up on the left.

If not I will post contact details of his English speaking friend tomorrow.

That's basically what we did and he made us a huge cupboard and a large unit for our TV/CDs etc and we are very happy with the results.

There are 2 guys there usually, Haci has long grey curly hair tied in a ponytail.
