Hi Gang

It's good to be able to speak again. Thanks Izzet for sorting this out.

Can someone gain, please help me.

Is it easy to get electric heated towel rails in NC. I was thinking of putting these in the bathrooma to a). help keep the bathrooms warm and b) to help dry the towels particularly, as we don't have any effective heating in our villa. I priced them on ebay in UK - for approx. 60cm wide by 120cm long, cost. £120.00.

Also, is it easy to get ceiling fans in NC that also act as a light? If so, does anyone have ny idea of cost?

Any advice will be appreciated and tks.

Regards

Hi Milou

Although I can't help you with the costs, it is certainly easy to get hold of these items as we have them in our rented apartment - both towel rails and fan lights - so you won't have a problem. Am sure someone can give you an idea of prices.

Hi Milou

We brought ceiling fans in our suitcases as they aren't very heavy (I think we paid about £9.99 each in Macro). We got a local electrician to fit them. Only problem we have is the chains which hang from them aren't long enough as we have very high ceilings.

Can't help with the towel rail though.

Hi Milou

We find the best way to dry towels is by using that big orange ball in the sky which seems to be out alot more in cyprus than the uk, as for fan/light units most electric shops sell these, price much the same as uk.

If you decide against the towel rails - the next best thing would be a heated airer/ dryer.

Its just the the same as a normal clothes airer but the rails heat up . Great to put the old pj's on before bedtime !!!!

Just plug it in to normal socket and heats up within about 10 mins - and when finished with - just fold up and put away for the summer months.

I managed to buy one for about £25.00 at a local diy store

Hi Simbas

49.99 sounds better than 120.00 - I'll look out for all flyers. It's easy to transport as we'll be shipping out but it may be cheaper to buy in NC.

Graham - you realise I now have a stick on my side from laughing - you're right about the big orange ball - the problem is< I don't want to go into cold bathroom in winter!

Thank you all for your help.

hi milou

towel rails are very easy to find in cyprus and quite reasonbly priced the best place for quality and price would be toprak ceramics located in kyrenia centre right near the big fountain roundabout typrical price is around £150 you can also get fan celing lights no prob but these are bit expensive

your best bet cos i know you have got a container is to bring over from the u.k

a word of advice thou and no disrespect to simba netto are cheap and nasty and are not very good quality!!!

try the plumb centre link below good quality this where all the plumbing trade go to and they are quite reasonable priced i see one for £90

http://www.plumbcenter.co.uk/plumb/index.html

also try b&q quite good quality and cheap

http://www.diy.com/diy/jsp/index.jsp?linktype=topnav_Home&ts=1199450114161

hope this helps and i do suggest cos you have a lot of space in your container buying this kind of stuff in the u.k even thou they have these products in cyprus you might not find the style you want

Milou

If you are bringing from uk screwfix do one for 1/2 the price you quoted from ebay. Don't know if this is what you are looking for.

If its an Oil filled radiator it will be a sealed unit Lindy, and would never need replacing or topping up. I think they are better than a convector heater because they maintain the heat for quite a while, even when switched off, a bit like a central heating radiator. Whereas a convector heater or fan heater are warm while on but as soon as you turn off or the thermostat cuts out they are cold.

Hi Milou, We bought 3 ceiling fans with lights for about £50 each inc fitting from an electrical shop in Girne abt 50 yds to the right of the 1001 shop as you come out, on the opposite side of the road.

Hope this helps. Bill

FYI regarding oil filled radiators .

I found that if you leave them on a low-medium setting they are much more energy efficient.

If you keep turning them on and off, they draw a lot more power and it also takes a long time to warm the room.

I have one in the living room and one in the bedroom, the bedroom gets nice and toasty but the living room could do with two more. (its a big room).

We bought 5 ceiling fans with lights from Electrikur (on the Girne Roundabout)

£50 each plus £30 fitting - I have to say it took around 4 hours to fir them all so it was good value. The quality is excellent (not far off Fantasia which you pay around £250 each for in the UK). They are great as well and actually save you money in the long term as you dont need to keep reaching for the aircon in summer !!

Hi Guys

Thanks for your help.

Perry you're right, I also would rather have fans, apart from the waste and cost.
