I am almost a little afraid to ask this but can anyone recommend somewhere in Girne/Lefkosa where I can get a reasonably priced mattress. Don't need a new bed, just want a better mattress or possibly one of those orthopedic mattress overlay things.

try Mermaid opp the petrol station in Karakum....



they have about 7 or 8 diferent models from very soft to very form - You can also lie on them so you can "try before you buy"

if there is one shop that's not likely to last the course, it's the double size Tempur mattres shop in Karakum, the rent must be £1200 per month before they open the door....

Botanica do a mattress with a memory foam layer inside for the double its 715 tl (about £300) they are on the main Road in Çatalköy opposite the football stadium. If you know someone who is due over from the UK maybe you could get a memory foam "topper"? I am not sure if you can get those here.

We bought a mattress that is a similar design to Tempur at Smart Furniture.

The next block after The Ship Inn.

This was a mattress rather than an over lay you hoped for.

Hope this isn't classed as an advert????

If you know someone that is bringing a container out out ,or if Jo valentines

is filling a part container Silentnight do a very good mattress in a box ,vacuum packed so it doesn't take up a lot of space, about the size of one of the portable gas fires here. solid foam base with a memory foam top

When i left the UK they where about £230 for a 5 foot slightly less for a 4.6

(in TG Hughes) all you do is take it out of the box, carefully cut the bag and it expands up to its full size,the wonders of technology!

we have bought mattresses direct from the makers. They are called Akdeniz. their phone number is 22 53 227. (dont know if they speak english) best to go to the showroom and just look. They are situated in the industrial area in Lefkoşa. They make the mattress there. very reasonable.
