The Esentepe Villa hotel has been up and running for six months, it boasts five en-suite rooms two seperate dining rooms (one non smoking) three outside terraces and a well stocked lounge bar with snug off, the swimming pool will be commissioned at the beginning of April. it is British owned and is now run by Cengiz formerly of the Palmera rouge and Address restaurants.

the hotel web site can be accessed via http://www.esentepevillahotel.com or http://www.esentepevillahotel.co.uk where one can find all up to date information. they also arrange car hire at very competitive rates and offer airport pick up and drop off service

Thanks for this, Bill. Always useful to know of a decent hotel in the Esentepe region, because you can't stay in a half-finished apartment, even if you do own it! Presumably the restaurant is open to non-residents too? Anyone eaten there?

only one complaint about it. they had local brandy on optics and were only using single measures. thought that to be a bit off considering it was Antique brandy at that. Food was ok though.

Long story, basically the big man is selling his share (then again some say he is just the dogs body of the owner) of this 2/3 bedroom villa/hotel

that has very rowdy late night drinking in the bar that is just below your if`y air conditioned room that has frequent power and water failures, if you dare to venture into the postage stamp sized swimming pool beware we know of 4 people that swear they got ill from the often cloudy pool.

There are better, more accomadating and certainly more honest establishments that you will get a good nights sleep.

The villa/hotel is in a fantastic position but it needs money spending on it and a good reliable management in place.

We know of many that have only managed one night of there week long stay and had to book into somewhere else.

You get what you pay for.

For those of you in the Esentepe area who need a few nights' accommodation or longer for unexpected delays on villas or a holiday, I would recommend the Alkan Holiday Village on the main road just after turn off for Esentepe. Extremely clean, quiet and peaceful, great pool and good service and price. Stayed there for 10 nights in July this year.

Alkan's is ok, they must have got the staffing problems sorted because whenever we've stayed they've always been having problems keeping staff. The main problem is the fact its such a long distance from Girne. Sharron used to do most of the work working late into the evenings then up early to get breakfasts. Whilst you'll find Alkan in his normal position of laying on the sofa in the reception area having a snooze.

We've stayed there many times over the years as it was convenient for watching our house build. We've always had a good laugh there and its often been called Cyprus's answer to Fawlty Towers! Foods not wonderful though and would suggest eating elsewhere. Both Sharron and Alkan are lovely and if you manage to take Alkan's dummie (cocktail stick) out of his mouth it'll be a first.

Don't get in the firing line between Sharron and Alkan's mother. They have a long standing feud.

I repeat "you get what yo pay for" , it all depends on what you want, and what you are hoping to achieve. Those using it as a stop gap may find it ok !!!

We have stayed at Alkans and find it ok, you have to accept the way its run or move on, they are genuine, and most of all honest, what you see is what you get.

If you wish to stay, make an offer you`ll be surprised.

You want good food with a "memory" take a 30-40 min trip to the Ambiance, Or the harbour, then enjoy the peace and quiet as you return east of Kyrenia (BLISS)

Louise, the existence of this board has just been brought to my attention, I am the owner of the Esentepe Villa Hotel and I refute your slanderous statements on this board, you are obviously a disgruntled and sad individual with a personal axe to grind.

To the other members of this board I want to make it plain that my wife and myself are the sole owners of the hotel, we have no partners, our limited company number registered in TRNC is 11840, my wife and myself are the only directors.

Our Hotel is small with only 5 letting rooms and our swimming pool is and has always been well maintained, it is fully cleaned out twice a week (more than can be said about some in the area) and never has anyone ever complained about it.

We have had several reasons to be wary of underhand tactics from competitors locally and have documentary evidence of some of it, this post is further proof, but we will not become involved in slagging matches about other establishments - maybe it is because we are successful and busy that people are envious

Well said Peterpan

People who come on to these boards and leave unjust and negative comments

must be accountable for such actions if they cannot back them up. You have to realise that venomous comments like that can affect the livelyhood of the person involved. The more facilities in the Esentepe area the better so lets not knock the people who are trying to establish a business. If you have a personell grievance it is better to talk to the people concerned and not to air it on public board.

ONLY ME

Wonder no longer, my share is exactly 50% and my wife owns the other 50%, check out the apology on my posting it will let you see what kind of people we are dealing with, Liars - Damed liars and gossip mongers,

My advice to Andrew and Claire Scholes is stay in England we have more than enough twisted people here already, gossiping in their little cliques and castigating genuine people with their made up stories, they should have maybe taken up writing fairy tales

Sorry but I didnt want to comment on this thread really but andy1 I have a question for you - If Peterpan should have been dealing with you in the first place then why is it louise your wife who initiated these comments??? I think you should drop this one straight away andy1/louise before causing Peterpan anymore concerns that you obviously cannot back up and dont have a leg to stand on. I say this is defamation!?

Dear Peterpan

you were certainly wronged, but try and rise above it, you must feel sorry for these people who felt they had to slander you. They probably have nothing more important in their lives to talk about. And another thing i for one dont believe all that i read in this forum i find things out for myself as i'm sure the majority using the forum does.

good luck S

Yes I totally agree. I always like to try things for myself because people's opinions are very different but I have to say even if it were bad then for obvious reasons (and if you had a brain) you would keep them to yourselves!

May I thank everyone for their comments,

Simbas I have tried very hard on many occasions but it is so exasperating to have downright lies told about ones business, especially put on bulletin boards like this.

my last words on this subject are that I replied to the thread initiator who has the e-mail address and name that says quite explicitly 'CLAIRE SCHOLES' If her husband chooses not to reveal that he is using his wife's nickname to make posts he has to suffer the consequences.

And I really must thank them for their assistance in proving further where the gossip stems from, they know it and I know it.

SO MOTE IT BE

I'm beginning to think that we stayed in a different Esentepe Villa Hotel in June this year.

We had a fantastic time, the room was beautiful and the view from our balcony was amazing.

After a long day looking around building sites the hotel pool was a very welcome treat. The water was crystal clear and hospitality second to none. We met some lovely people, both holidaymakers and ex pats. We thought that the hotel was one of the nicest we had ever stayed in, small and very friendly.

Hoping that when we are able to spend more time in TRNC it will be one of our locals.

Recent stay at the Esentepe Villa Hotel found it to be a late night watering hole for the exBrits. No good for a peaceful relaxing time but alright if your nocturnal! and if not then a very heavy sleeper!

Compliments to Gengis and the cleaning lady who worked hard to keep paying guests feeling comfortable

Felt sorry for local villagers who had to suffer "We will, we will rock you". Before morning call to prayer!

Hi Corkey,

Yes the Hotel is now under new management.

We are updating the website as a lot of the information on it was out of date, it should be back on line later this week.

The Hotel can still be contacted on esentepevillahotel@msn.com

Hi All,

Greg here,

I am using this sign in as it is my wife's and I deleted mine some time ago.

To set the record straight, I sold the Esentepe hotel on the 1st of September to a very nice couple called Sue & Glen from England, Firstly my reason for selling:

it was never my intention to continue running a business when I retired to N.Cyprus, the hotel was bought for a couple known to me for a number of years, who unfortunately at the last minute had to withdraw from the venture, so I was left to scrabble around trying to get decent and capable staff, until I got Gengiz Meydan in to run it - which he did successfully, despite the small village gossip mentality it flourished, but it was always my intention to sell it on when a buyer was found, after negotiations lasting several months Sue and Glen became the new owners and it is their intention to take the place a stage further by putting their own mark on it, I spent a lot of money taking it from a run down villa to a place where people could come and relax, and Glen & Sue are now spending a lot more money to give the public a better standard and a more comfortable establishment to enjoy in the Esentepe area, they should be applauded for this.

It is always easy to deride people and these bulletin boards, while wonderful tools for people to share information, can also be very damning and damaging when someone wants to be vindictive as I had occasion to show a couple of months ago on this same board.

I for one wish G
