I could walk in to a shop or supermarket in say ... Uk and could easily spend 40 or 50 pounds, but try to spend that amount here in NC and you would be hard pushed to manage it, first the choice is minimal, and second the astronomical prices. Us women love shopping, on the whole, but are stifled with the prices, lack of choice and boredom which prevails here. I know I am going to hear the usual.... why live here?? etc . But it is time someone took note and try and alter the situation before it is to late.

Mindy you are out of touch!!! early last year twas a good shopping trip pound dollar rate in xs of 180.. the trouble with women is they think shopping is great and cheap but they dont understand the exchange rate do they (probably leass than 140 now) then the hibbiues have to pay back the creidt cards.

He's right Mindy - CA shopping will cost you (or Mork?) a fortune just now! unless you've got lots of dollars put by from when the rate was better! incidentally I find the shops in TRNC great - but I don't tend to buy anything British while I'm there if I can help it! - the local equivalent is half the price - get yourself a good Turkish Cypriot cook book and experiment with local dishes!

Rocky... I am familiar with interest rates thanks. And I am not bad in spotting a bargain... maybe I won't spend too much, but it will be good just window shopping if thats the case.

Levi jeans on my list for hubby....... now they are cheap as chips over in US.

Thanks , I will enjoy the sunny climes, hear it is warming up nicely, by the way Starling is selling corn beef for 2ytl a tin (a bargain at last) 101 dishes to make with corned beef coming up.
