TRNC will be competing in the Viva Cup this year which will be held in Padania in Northern Itaky from the 15 - 21 June. This is the football world cup for countries which are not internationaly recognised such as TRNC, Walonian, Sicily, Biafra etc. A someone said about this tournament its a game of three halves, two on the pitch and one in the wine bar. Obtaining tickets should be no problem they have their own website, unfortunately the tournament may not make Sky Sports. But it sounds a lot of fun and if you want something different for a holiday it might be worth a look. And if you cant make it this year Iraq is bidding to hold the 2010 competition. Cmon you whites.

Its a pity they cant invite Scotland, whose national side normally has a quiet period about that time of the year.

Forget they irrelevant postings, TRNC currently hold this World Cup.

I saw several of the games played here 2 years ago when there was from memory - Zanzibar, Greenland, Crimea, Kyrgistan, Tibet plus a couple I cannot remember.

It was a shame that so few people went along to support these players who came from all points of the compass to play in a tournament for teams either at bottom or not even allowed into FIFA rankings.

Most of them were quite young but they played with real passion, something that the team from England often forgets and many ex pats who went along commented on.

So good luck TRNC.

I think the comments of former and present Cetinkaya players sum up the feeling of many people involved in football. They know what will happen by being second class citezens in RoC league.

Cetinkaya, if you did not know, are one of the premier teams here.

David,

Wasnt it Talat that made the decision not to sep up a level.Seems very negative thinking to me,

Paul.

Difficult to say who makes decisions here as you know.

Given the violent record of RoC followers of football I would think it is sound thinking to keep out. As I said earlier the problem here lies with UEFA and FIFA supported by the EU and UN. Surely someone can stand up to this mighty world power that is the RoC!!

David,

Surely if the north dont move up a level they will not improve their footballing abilities and attract a higher standard of player. Why do they want to be Scottish Premier as opposed to English premier. (no offence meant to the scots)

Paul.
