We are purchasing a new villa that should have been connected to the local mains water, whoever we have been told by the builders that this is not possible as the local service is not able to support new properties. I have read that builders have to provide electricity connections for new properties, does the same apply for water?

Hi Zeefa I have copied the below info from the goverments website and you will se that it clearly states that all infrastructure must be in place which of course includes water. Hope this helps "What are the legal liabilities of the construction companies? According to the Law, Construction Companies: - Must be registered with the Constructors Association and must obtain a constructors certificate. - Must have applied and be granted a full building permit before they start construction. - Must provide infrastructure in place before they start constructing the properties."

Norths4me, thanks for the info. Do you know when this came into force and if it applies to projects that were started in 2005 but have still not been completed? Bradus, up at Bahceli near Esentepe

Hi Zeefa Not sure if you come under Esentepe for your water but I do know that last year they replaced all of the old water pipes in the actual village of Esentepe and we were told by the Beledeysi that unless your house was within the boundaries of the village then you would not be connected to the mains. I know that all of the houses on the seafront and the ones below Esentepe Villa Hotel on the hill get their water from a central water depot which is replaced by tankers. Not sure if Bahceli would come under this though. I'm sure you have your own Beledeysi but wouldn't swear to it. Karen

Hi Norths4Me I feel a bit guilty about us conversing outside SWB? You say that one of the regulations states: "Must provide infrastructure in place before they start constructing the properties." I think that infrastrure can mean, a central depot and not piped water from the actual village. I am not sure whether this would apply to Tatlisu for the present. I think eventually we will get piped water but it might take a little longer before this infrasructure is in place. Regards

Hi Guys Milou I would thik it means that an adequate water supply be supplied whether that is from a piped supply from the village or supplied by tankers or wells and pumps I am not sure what the definition is. Sweetwater had said that they were going to join on to the Tatlisu pipework so not sure if that is still the case. Zeefa what are your builders proposing to supply you with in terms of water supply.

Hi all Thanks again for the information. Our builder is Evergreen, they informed us in March in an email headed Upgrades and Improvements that they would not be able to connect to the local supply but were going to build a water depot that would be supplied by tankers and provide the properties with pumped water from this depot. Evergreen have started the property completion process with some owners and now say they "intend" to build the water depot in the future, in the meantime the owners will have to arrange for water to delivered by tanker. Have other members had similar experiences with water supply and their builders? Any further information on what action you took or we can take would be most welcome.
