Where: Antique Restaurant, Esentepe

In our party: Me, 'er in doors, the Mongerford two.

Comments: Chef Tony of the Tony's terrace fame is back and he doesn't disappoint. Nice cosy restaurant with a roaring log fire in the corner. Blackcurrent cheese cake/cream to die for.

Overall: Top tucker in a nice setting, although the portion sizes are a little small (mrs "M" wanted a kebab on the way home).

Would i return: Yes

Dee - best restaurant (imho) is "Sabor" opp new Savoy Hotel in the High Street...

Italian/Spanish tucker, beautiful premises, good attentive service and surprisingly cheap prices. (eg huge bowl of spag bol 14 TL). They do Sangria too.

One of the few restaurants in the TRNC to win the covereted "Monger 5 star award" (bit like Michelin stars for us lot from the Black Country).

And one of the few restaurants Mrs "M" deosn't want a kebab on the way home.....

Nick I agree with you about Sabor as I am a fairly frequent visitor..damn good food at very reasonable prices and the staff are lovely..

The other evening we ate at the Polar and I have to say it was very nice, not Sabor but still good, I had the calves liver and it was cooked to perfection...recommended if you can't be arsed to drive into Girne..

Agree with recommendations for Sabor and Antique.

My favourites - Effendis and Ezic Platinum.

Haven't been to Guido's but will try soon.

Got to give my five stars to the Happey Valley decorated to true truker stop standard with well pressed plastic table clothes, cypriot dinning furniture from the 70s and pot bellied stove. A warm welcome from the smiling assasin Riaz who serves up feast of culture that keeps you locked in the boys room the next day with Ghandi's revenge. A fine place to lift your spirits after six beers and the depression that occurs after a Sunderland game

mess 11 - if you've been to an AC/DC concert and seen the "Whole Lota Rosie" blow up doll, you get the idea about Mrs "M"......

She fell on Garry a few years ago and the poor bugger had to have a week off work....

I feel sorry for Gary Monger and what he has to put up with. If I were hime I'd start 'looking around'. He's still young enough, blimey 50 odd is nothing these days.
