Hi boofey. We bought a property from Savyon Village in Turtle Bay. Savyon Village is a company or have they got a site called Savyon Village?

Ooops I think I've goofed.

Found these attractive quality houses on the web and thought the area was called that - up in Ozonkoy near Bellapais?

Anyhow, when we visit we are definitely taking a look. The fact they are built on pre-74 Turkish owned land is also very attractive.

So, how did yo find out about these and who did you go through to buy?

Everything run smoothly? All info gratefully received.

Best wishes

Hi Boofey. We bought our apartment through Donaghy & Beyler (agents) who were very good. My husband works with someone whose sister works there so were recommended. We were very happy with the service we received from them and they were very helpful and answered my many questions!!!

So far so good. We are due to complete in July and so far everything has gone very well. Dont like to say it in case it all goes pear shaped just before July. Got a great solicitor too - Naomi Mehmet - would recommend her. All the best and hope it goes well. If I can answer any more questions please fire away. I have done lots of research from various people who have been marvellous in answering questions for me so if I can help you - even better!

Regards

Hello again BHW - guess you won't be so bored come July wey hey!

Thanks so much for your info.

I have been looking at the Savyon 3 bed villas and have been waiting to hear from The Villa Shop to arrange a visit when we come over in Sept. They haven't got back to me so I'm going to contact Donaghy & Beyler instead, so thanks for the recommendation.

Another couple of questions:

Did it all come in on budget or have you discovered lots of hidden extras?

What are you doing about furniture? Are you shipping stuff over or buying afresh?

Thanks for your time x

Are the apartments you are referreing to called Abbey View by any chance? They are situated in Ozankoy and are pre 74 Tittle deeds.

Hello Boofy

If you are looking for pre 74 turkish and Bellapais, you may want to check out Grosvenor Park by Armacon Design. The site is almost done and there are only a couple of villas left (out of 26). We have purchased there and our experience has been very good - the location and quality are outstanding.

Have gone right off the Savyon village properties - found out they were being advertised at the price they were 2 years ago and not at the current price.

A little disappointing to say the least.

BHW - After your recommendation I got in touch with Donaghy and Beyler and they are proving really helpful so thanks for that. Was the solicitor recommended by them as well? Bradus warns against using solicitors recommended by estate agents (3 bed appartment posting), what's your view?

Perry - Took a look at the Grosvenor Park villas, not sure if I found the same website as yourself, the ones I found were a little out of our price range I'm afraid but thanks for the info.

Hi Boofey

Sorry you havent had much luck with Savyon Village. We went through Donaghy and Beyler and only found out that the builders were called Savyon Village so I guess if you like something you can't choose the builders. But we have been very pleased with both Donaghy and Savyon Village. We have been dealing with the sales office (of Savyon) over the last few months and have been asking various questions and they have answered everything very promptly and efficiently. I would definitely recommend them. Its a shame they hadn't updated their website on the villas but I guess some things get forgotten about now and again.

We are buying our furniture from a lady called Joan Gillin. She has her own website which is very very useful and she's a very helpful lady. There is also an interior designer on site who has provided some of the furniture but we liked Joan's more.

The solicitor we used was a lady called Naomi Mehmet. She's excellent. She was recommended by Donaghy but also Joan uses her and recommended her and I have heard others have used her and been very very pleased. She was born in English but is Turkish so speaks is very fluent in several languages.

Hope this is of some help to you.

Oh sorry Boofey forgot to answer another question. We spent a little more on our apartment than we wanted to but still kind of within budget. Donaghy do list down all the extras you have to pay generally - and there are several other websites that tell you whats involved. I think the only thing we were not aware of was a one off payment of £960 to the management company for a sinking fund in case our property was over-used and the communal parts over-used!!! Not quite sure what that was all about but everyone has to pay it. I thinks its a bit of a back up if say something like the pool goes wrong etc etc

Thanks for all the info BHW.

Savyon Village (in my case) is an area and not a firm, I found the villas on estate agent websites (not builders) and 2 of which (shall remain nameless) were advertising at the wrong prices. When I discovered the current price was more then 20K difference I was a bit peeved.

Still, D&B sent me all the current prices and sadly these turned out to be out of our budget. Never mind, will take a look at other areas when we come over in Sept.

Thanks for the recommendation for the solicitor you used, I'm sure that would be helpful for other buyers too.

Do you have website addresses for Joan Gillin and for the interior designer?

Not long until your move in July, we're nearly in April so not too far away now.

We've had snow here in Suffolk and it's freezing - grrrrr !!!

Bye for now, nice hearing from you

I'm sure there is a development called Savyon Village - is it in Esentepe - next to Turtle Bay?

Anyway we bought our apartment from Savyon Village Limited and they have built several developments so they may have one named after the company(??) I know there are villas next to our apartments but am not sure of the name but I think it is the same developer as ours. They are from Israel and from what I gather a reputable company.

All the best with your search - if you want something at a good price you need to buy off plan when they are first released otherwise the price jumps up a little as to how much interest they have! We spent an extra £10K on ours but have now been told we have already made £15K on it! Whether that is true - who knows!

Good luck in September!

Hi all,

Just wanted to add that it really is a buyers market. I got £10k knocked off the price of my 2 bed semi detatched villa, private garden with communial pool at the end of the garden a barry bargain at just £70k. I think some companies are so desperate to sell it might be worth your while making a silly offer and see what happens.

Good for you Shona - 10K is a big saving. Worth haggling for.

A buyers market aye? Is the property market slowing up over there or is it because it's still early in the year ?

Hi Boofey

I think the property market may be slowing down with new builds at the moment as I read something about the government (or someone like that) putting a halt to new planning permissions in TRNC for the time being. Everything with planning permission will be built but nothing new in the pipeline I believe (I may be wrong though - I think if you look at the news section on this site it will explain more). Its great news for us that have bought already as it will bump the prices of our properties up!

Not so great news for those still in the process of buying but I understand the need to kerb any over-development if that's why they are puting a freeze on planning permissions.

What a difference prices are in the South. Watched a programme on property being sold around Pathos, couldn't believe how expensive they are now.

Savyon Village Catalkoy

40+ detached 3 bed villa's, usually of 2 types

Wonderful views, reflected in price, which we thought over priced

We rented there for 6 months last year
