Dear Pipie.....tried them first...they want £75k for a 2 bed...I thought folks on this forum were saying it was bad in NC, dismissing my suggestion that things were picking up....seems not!

No1 Doyen, is business that bad at Mr Smiths, that they need you to drum some up? Or do you still work there and have so much time on your hands, that you spend all day on this forum.....looking for buisness? good luck selling your penthouses

Please be aware that when the word PENTHOUSE is mentioned that rarely are they actual penthouses.....that is, one apartment on one floor of a building. Many Estate Agents mis sell these properties as in Estate Agent speak a PENTHOUSE is a top floor apartment of a 3 or 4 storey block, with the same size apartment underneath. But because it's top floor the builder/developer adds a premium to it of £3,000 to £5,000. In actuality they are rarely worth the extra and many suffer from leaking roofs where the roof has been incorrectly sealed. So a ground or first floor apartment is a much sounder investment....and not as many stairs to climb! Just be careful!

Dear Tim I understand what you are saying, but, buying at the top, views are generally better and no noise from above, including those passing on the stairs. Lower floors can be handy if you have young kids ie the ground. dear Kitekat...if it is east of Kyrenia, then yes...have you anything?

Stewart - absolutely right! We bought an apartment on the top floor of 3 for those reasons. However, as Tim has said, we did have problems with leaking through our ceiling. So - they ripped up the beautiful marble tiling on the roof terrace. The problem persisted and we pointed out that it could not possibly be due to rain, since they hadn't had any for months. Eventually, we suggested that it could possibly be something to do with the water pipes (the water tanks/solar panels are on the roof). Could they be leaking? Ah...yes. To be fair, they did try to sort the problem, quickly, but we now have a very different roof terrace covering from the beautiful marble-type stuff. However, we haven't been out there since October and, what with all the much needed rain, I'm still dreading going out in June!! Fingers crossed the current roof covering is waterproof. (Not holding my breath here). Regards J PS I should add that the present astro-turf type covering is the 3rd attempt.

Jean. Nothing surprises me on here sometimes. People are too quick to have a go at someone who is trying to give out information to someone else. I've used Ian Smith's before and I know other people who have used them - without any problems. Why wouldn't I recommend them? It's like recommending a restaurant because you've had good service, it doesn't mean you own the place! You know me, Its water off a ducks back.
