I also hate football. I find it really frustrating when in the UK because other half walks in the door and immediately goes to 401 and guess what, football every night. I love it when in Cyprus, no football - he goes to watch the local team instead - that I can cope with. Karen

Just a personal opinion James. Yobbish behaviour and the type of violence you can see at football events is one reason that I am escaping UK.

I really upset my neighbours the other year, they were in the back garden watching the world cup having a few beers. They were really noisy and getting on my nerves so I got the hover mower out and decided to cut my lawn.

Simbas Credit cards are designed to punish husbands who enjoy sports? Or...Sports are designed to punish women who desire credit cards over their husbands? Anyone want to put the issue to a vote? (Not that either theory is right)

I believe if they showed more football on TV then it would give the people who dislike it the chance to appreciate the beautiful game and slowly grow to love it. Perhaps women could play a greater role and offer advice on important matters such as colour coordination the teams wear and thus avoid any awful colour clashes. Also if they were to offer refreshing half time snacks for the supporters be it at the ground, or if their man is watching it at home, I'm sure it would be greatly appreciated.

tim10 ummmmmmmm my experience is it's no great punishment to the men because they get to see their sport without a guilty conscience , and us girls , we get to spend their money without a guilty conscience i call that an ideal partnership [ we have been married for 35yrs ] perhaps the younger fraternity thinks differently. c'mon you youngsters what do you think ? [ help me out here ] regards simbas

TonyH if my husband asked me for refreshing snacks during half time I think I would cut the electricity supply!!!! And who cares what colour they wear - perhaps they should go naked and then maybe more women might be interested (or not!)! LOL!

Boredhousewife, This is where being smart comes in....I see all the matches at me brother-in-laws house. His wife is a mouse and does whatever she says when guests are over. I know that after guests leave she gives him hell for it! But that is his problem not mine. When my wife asked that I quite driving her sister mad with football parties in her livingroom I offered to host the parties in our house. From that moment on my wife is silent on the issue. So let's see the scoreboard: 1 -- I'm happy 2 -- Me wife's happy 3 -- Me brother-in-law happy 4 -- Me sister-in-law unhappy SCORE 3-1 That is a good football score!

Boredhousewife, Do you not understand why my wife keeps her trap shut? She also hates football! She practically throws me out of the house to her sister's to avoid hearing the flick machine howl with the greal ole sounds of ye footballers. She hates me camping out in her sis flat, but even hates the good ole pitch more. Anyway, my brother-in-law has a giant HD flat screen I envy. Great viewing, great brew and great game....if the sis-in-law suffers, let it be! Long live Liverpool and long live the Queen. (Note who is mentioned first!)

Panhandler......interesting points. Some of my buddies back in the 'pool, Red and Blue supporters, have similiar views and now spend their hard earned cash watching Marine (non leauge football side) and enjoy every minute of it. Sky changed football forever.

I don't hate the sport but it has gotten out of hand over the past 2 decades..... I remember when it was a MAN's sport "shoulder charges & sliding tackles" now if an opponant gets too close they fall on the floor crying! Obscene amounts of money being exchanged for contracts, obscene amounts of wages being paid to players & the W.A.G.S - well that is a prompt for another topic... 22 men playing on a big lawn, kicking a bag of wind around - no longer my cup of tea.... Football - a gentleman's game - played by idiots Rugby - an idiots game - played by gentlemen Still do like to see England do well thought - & that's my humble oppinion.
