Why don't new posters know?

It really does get too much when people are asking the same question over and over.

Why don't people know there is a search engine at the top of the screen? A new thread about a Restaurant was started yesterday, if the poster had put the restaurant name in the search engine they would have found the other thread in seconds!

I have just answered a question to a new post, all I did was copy it from a previous post.

It saves time looking, plus somebody might have more recent information.

Mountain Edge, an old thread can be added to everyone looks when it is brought back to the top.

My point is why don't people know about the search engine in the first place? I always try to be helpful but, recently the same questions keep cropping up, I fear these new posters will just get ignored, because people get sick of answering.

The search engine, does not seem to work very well to me.



The results appear to be random and don't display them in any particular fashion.



If it displayed then in date order or even thread number order, then that might be better and certainly help me to use it more often.

I have used it twice this week with no problem, today I used it when someone asked about electricity, and yesterday when the new Jashan restaurant thread started, at least people could try first.

We are often asked why people do not post on this board, or post and then disappear.

We must accept that some members have more knowledge about computers than others.

If you find it boring to reply to a post for info that you consider to be unimportant or could be answered by using the search engine then dont bother, but please dont discourage people by making comments such as

message one.

Spook, I am not trying to discourage, more informing. I can't see how this thread will stop people posting, it may get them looking for the search engine though, which in case anyone doesn't know is at the top of the main index under the 44 banner.

And I didn't say I find it boring to answer, if you look at my post's I always try to help, my fear is some might, and new posters will not be answered.
