about 10 days ago hubby did his residency paperwork.

yesterday he crossed south and on re entry customs pulled him.

'your residency is out of date'

he told them he had done everything correctly and that he would be going to immigration this week, when they had done the paperwork to collect the stamp in his passport.

he was told that it was not good enough, and he needed to go to immigration and get a 90 day visa.

why, ? especially when he had just come from the south, do you not get 30 at least anyway?

then he went on to tell him unless he got this 90 day visa, he could not leave the trnc.

hubbys reply was that they had no right to stop him leaving the trnc, to enter any other country especially an e.u country.

it makes you wonder why you bother to do everything correctly and on time?

how long does it take immigration to read 5 pieces of paper?

do the customs officers actually know what the rules are?

i know rasta,

this just shows you how untrained the customs staff are.

its not as if we have ever cheated the system, and his passport shows that he has stamps for previous years.

they need to get behind those who cheat the system, not the law abiding.

did he get a letter from the Police station allowing him to cross to the south during the period his residency was being processed. You have to state to the police what specific date you want to cross, you can only cross on that particular date.

It has long been the case that while your renewal is in the system then you cannot leave the TRNC without police permission in writing.



I am not defending the practise merely pointing it out.

I had to get a letter from ther Police stating the day I wanted to cross to the South, while my Residency was being completed, even though I had four previous stamps in my passport, glad I was told about this prior to going

looks like I have a trip to Police station if this is the case. I renewed at Police station last Wednesday, and I am flying out of Paphos this coming Wednesday for 2 weeks. We never had a problem last year when the paperwork was being processed.

i asked and got a letter also,when the paperwork went in as i had a flight booked,best thing to do if you intend to go over south,you never know,just another way to tax you,and class it as fine, or fine you and class it as tax,!!

his residency wasn't even out, it expired that day!
