Hi Bob, I was in Akrotiri 1965-1968. Attended Berengaria School and I think we had sporting events with King Richards and St Johns etc.

Hey man , we're becoming ancient!!

spider - surely this is a thread about people who attended schools in Cyprus? If you went back to the "Maybe it's because I'm a Londoner" you could probably find loads of information about people who went to school in your neck of the woods.

I was there 1963-65 don't remember much about it except for the lefkarites buses and skiving off from school and spending the days in the bay at the foot of the hill.

Slightly off topic, but out of interest in these historical names: do the King Richard and the Berengaria schools still exist? Do Baspinar Bob or TRNColdboy happen to have a picture from the buildings, which I might borrow to scan for my archive?

P.S. There's not much left in Cyprus to remember this great English king. I only know the Cœur de Lion (Lionheart) Hotel in Girne. And now two more (Berengaria being Richard's fiancée)!

P.P.S. Not intending to hijack the thread so back on topic, although answers will be really appreciated.

Berengaria school closed years ago and forms part of Berengaria village which is mothballed in its entirity and now surrounded by the ever spreading Limassol.

Quite why it is now a ghost village I don't know but believe it is still owned? by the UK.

Incidentally I went to St. John's School, Episkopi 1961-63 which makes you youngsters.

I was at the English School in Nicosia and I did go to King Richard School to play hokey one day. It was a match between the two schools. It was about 1960.
