Does anyone know where is the cheapest place to get flights from Luton/ Heathrow/ Manchester/ Stanstead to Ercan on the 6th-7th or 8th March.

jules , we booked on pegasuss a month ago from stansted, its for easter when its more expensive cost us £760 three adults return. all the rest were coming in at a grand or over

If you want a dirty cheap ticket, you need to book in advanced. You could book an Easyjet flight to Istan SAW and then get a flight to Ercan with pegagsus. If you book in advanced I guess you should find a cheap ticket to Ercan for around the 100 pound price mark.

Try this comparison tool, it checks over a dozen operators (expedia etc)

It shows the prices in $ but it is very competitive.

KTHY depends on your definition of "a meal".

We take our own it is easier and much more appetising.

Drinks usually only one service so again we take water and juice purchased at the airport, airside, to avoid confiscation by security.

Same dates no border crossing and cost of transfer two people Stansted to Ercan return 466 (£233 each).



In real terms a little more expensive but you are not giving money to the south which landing in Larnaca or Paphos does; instead a few more pennies from landing fees etc. can boost the economy of North Cyprus

Flightholiday... I couldn't agree more... but this needs to be put into the in tray of Ercan airport and/or TRNC authorities. They need to get their act together re prices as in the end it is TRNC that is losing out and even if they had to subsidise fares... which they don't... they would gain more than they lose.



Its only right that people with families try to find the cheapest flights out as the difference can be punitive. Last year we went with Monarch on three different occasions. Even with £90 taxi fares x three times, Larnaca was much cheaper.

Mind you I think Ercan taxis would have been £50 or so?

We went May, Sept and November.



Total cost of flights with Monarch to Larnaca: £980

While the total cost to Ercan would have been: £1480



£500 is not pennies... and though I agree with your point re Ercan it is also true that family economics often dictate choices



Happily this Spring we are going thru Ercan as we managed to snag a deal

1] The airport taxes are about 10 GBP and flight subsidies are normaly aimed at tourism which is not people who own second homes or their visitors (the subsidy needs to be paid out of hotel and other taxation does it not).



2] I understand the family flight problem. (I suspect that it might be your choice. - joke)



3] If you have your car delivered to the airport you have no taxi fee - we do that for our clients)



4] 500 is not pennies



5] I hope the flight was bought from us @ IAH why not buy your winter ones from us now? The deals are very good.

I booked via cypruspremier... don't know if you are connected?



Have prices for 3 adults from Monarch early september circe £500.00

Add to this taxi fares both outgoing and returning to Larnaca..£90.00

So total cost and direct is £590.00 for three adults.

I don't mind the stopover in Dalaman or such going via Ercan, it's simply the price that dictates who I travel with.



Haven't booked the Sept date yet as waiting to see if villa is ready...

If not it will become a "holiday" booking, not flight only.



From interest point of view because you seem to work in the trade what do you think, or even when do you think, prices to Ercan will become competitive. If you were advising TRNC how would you convince them that the more people who land in Ercan rather than say either the Larnaca/Paphos route makes economic sense?



Add to that I only fly from Manchester, because believe it or not, there are millions of people living north of Watford

2] If it is a holiday booking for September we use an ATOL holder who gives some very good prices we pass their packages on to you at the best rates offered on the day by them - so let me know if we can assist (they are associated to one of the airlines who service TRNC)



3] Many prices to Ercan are competitive I have just bought my Xmas seats for just below 200



4] I prefer to fly from Birmingham (the UK's second city) not Manchester but I do agree that North of Watford like North of Hadrians Wall (millions of people live there too) is under supplied.

Travelling alone out of Manchester in March, returning in April.



Monarch Airlines to Larnaca = £286

Luggage charge 1 bag @£8.99 x 2 journeys = £17.98

Taxi transfer = £90

Total = £393.98 + whatever I buy in the way of food and drink on the airplane.



Same days

Turkish Airlines to Ercan via Istanbul = £213.10

Hiring a car so being picked up



Total = £213.10



Bearing in mind I also have upgraded to business using their frequent flyer programme, then there really is no contest. ;0))
