What do you think is the worst bar in N. Cyprus? Please take into account, atmosphere, prices, service, entertainment, music and of course the number of fights! Try to bear in mind "Bangladesh standards, Swiss prices".

Very well said Pipie. Usually it is a matter of personal taste so it would be very unfair to start slagging off businesses that are simply trying to make a living.

The Fez in Catalkoy. Me and My friends kept this Bar running through out 2008, but will not use it anymore, as they started taking the piss out of us in the Summer by charging us Entrance Fee just to use the Bar. Gazza the biggest rip of Merchant of them all. Strong

I am a regular of the PARADISE and their prices are reasonable, and a lot cheaper then the Harbour, all i can say is do not listen to false allegations on this Forum, this sounds like anouther Bar in Ozankoy / Catalkoy who have got No Customers and are trying to win Customers by making false allegations about the Paradise. So do yourself a favour, vist the Paradise and don't be fooled by the idiots on this Forum. SueEllen

I'll go along with the Pardise bit. Miserable owner who short changes you, brandy sours with no brandy and treats he you like he's doing you a favour. Used to watch the Rugby there but never again.

Strong, re message 11. I have only ever had a good time at the Fez when I am over there. Never had the feeling I had been ripped off, in fact quite the opposite, all of the prices are on full view and the staff are very friendly. I seem to remember in the summer that they actually advertised that there would be a 5YTL (£2) cover charge to watch the cabaret on a Saturday nite if you did not have a meal. Your posting is misleading if that is what you are referring to, or are you saying that they just charged you a fee to drink at the bar with no entertainment?

Sue Ellen You say : "I am a regular of the PARADISE and their prices are reasonable, and a lot cheaper then the Harbour, all i can say is do not listen to false allegations on this Forum" So who's to say your opinion is false? I'm speaking from my experience of the Paeadise and you cannot excuse that as it is not your experience. My brother in law, his wife, my very polite husband and four friends were also disgusted. We are not promoting another bar. I was stating my experience and take offence to being suggested that it is idiotic to do so. Our family have 1st hand experience of managing bars so this experience was in excusable.

Unfortunately 'running people down' has become a hobby with Brit Expats. They would much rather destroy what they have in the TRNC rather than support the TC economy. Brit expats make a rod for their own backs and I have no time for the majority that want to bring 'Little Britain' to the TRNC. AJ |

message 27 agree in full, said it many times, some people need to find a life, I certainly did not move here to live in little britain. If so I would have purchased in Southern Cyprus or Spain. Get out and smell the roses, or even better leave if your that unhappy, give the rest of us peace to actually enjoy our time here.

Re: Paradise Bar I have been going to this bar for several years and have always been pleased with the service. The food is excellent. All customers are made very welcome. Nothing has ever been too much trouble. If you enjoy football, grand prix racing, in fact any sport at all this is the place to go, they will always to try to show any sport if they able to. A bonus is of course you have comfortable chairs and no cooking, and friendly people to banter with, a great place no doubts at all. Keep smiling Muz love ya lots

I have just come back from a 2 week holiday in Cyprus, stayed at the Oscar Resort and Enjoyed My Stay. Me and My friends were looking for a Nice place were we can have a Meal and watch the Rugby. The Paradise was highly recommended by a lot of People that we spoke too. So I decided to have a Go.This what I saw. When I walked in the place was fairly busy as their were a couple of football Games on. A mixture of Locals and Tourists. Some of Customers were watching the Game some were Dining and it was a mixture of Couples and Familes all enjoying themselves. Once the Six Nations Rugby started the place started to get bussier. The Atmosphere was Great what Else can you ask for a Nice Log fire, comfy Seats and a Giant Screen and Service with a Smile. Mess 29 – To me it was Champagne Service with Lemon Prices. I have a receipt of what we had this is the Prices. Soup of the Day and Fillett Steak 24 ytl and Glass of Wine 5ytl.and Large Efes Bottled Beer 5ytl. I will Definetly be Back !

Really, mosr people commenting on here, are not looking for a guide their looking for gossip and head hunting! Clear example is who started this! Yes i agree where someone said easy to say hidden behind a computer, maybe it would be wise for you to visit the bar and tell the owners, they could then do something about it. Children is what i hear here, adults that have not met their age! I am turkish cypriot london born, it embarasses me that the people i lived all my life with have come here to a small island with nothing but breaking down news, go home, see if your life would be better in the uk. Also i add, if your getting on the forum to hear, so called honest opinions of places, why dont you just use your own judgement and have your own experience! Jesus if i was to live by the forum i would be living in a forum prison! Ex pats, get on with it! Brush down your negativity, we can feel your prickly energy its not welcome.

Turkan, You are right in a lot of what you say, people on here moan and moan slag off the TRNC but are still there, why is that? These people obviously bother you so ignore them and don't take the bait, because you are playing into there hands and adding fuel to there fire. I live in Blackpool the u.k.'s top resort so they say, there are 2 structures a price for locals and a price for tourists which is dearer and is a rip off. The TRNC has prices for locals and for tourists/foreigners in respect of property i.e. utilities/ connections etc which is a rip off it goes on and on. I ran night clubs in the u.k. if i set my drinks prices to high or the food was crap people wouldn't come back and they would tell others they wouldn't tell the bar owner because if he was any good at running a business he would realise what was happening unless of course he was justing trying to take people for a ride. At the end of the day people have a right to complain or compliment wether you agree or not..

NN Yep, You were right. I am back, but just to say the way this thread has gone was the reason I left in the first place. It is a fantastic place and this site should be/is actually one of the best places to find information but getting kicked in the B*lls for voicing an opinion is not quite correct. Take it for what it is and dont try to change it. That is why it it so great, both the site and the place. In your home country, wherever, you dont slag anything and everything off cos it doesnt fit your wants exactly, you just go somewhere else. Bonjour Sir Skogs

| Last time i went to paradise bar a pint cost me 8ytl, the day before it was 6ytl i told the bar man and he just looked at me like i was a bit of sh*t on his shoe so i kept on about it and i ended up telling the other customers to be careful and made sure the staff could see me telling them they didnt like it but the staff can shove it i knew they could not throw me out because they would of been showing they were guilty of something, why should we be ripped off by some little sh*ts behind the jump. | Seems that some people have an axe to grind Sarah. The Old Mill (your pub I believe) and the Fez were both mentioned in this thread. Having visited both from time to time on my visits, I am amazed that people would say bad things about both these places. IMHO you are both offering an excellent venue for your punters. I wish you both all the best of luck. Im sure you need it in these troubled times.... |

Had a couple of afternoons this week watching the Cheltenham Festival down at the Paradise Bar and apart from actually being at the races it was a brilliant place to watch my money go down the drain. Sitting in comfort watching the big screen, and the prices in my opinion perfectly acceptable for the entertainment on offer, and you could not meet more friendly people anywhere in Cyprus. Whether its Champions League, 6 Nations or any sport for that matter, it really is the best place to be. Michael

People like to slag off places and each other as many times as the wind changes direction. I remember a few months ago maybe longer the Fez took a battering. I must say personally i think it is great.

H No 1 and AJ I couldnt agree more. I like both the Fez and The Old Mill and they do a great job as do all the other bars against all the odds. I always recommend them and the paradise for the sporting events.. I think we should get together and form a cartel and decide who we keep out. If only they could live in our shoes for a couple of days and see what we take from the moaners. You know when our cypriot customers from both sides come in they never ask how much is a beer etc, they enjoy the experience because that is thier way.

i think you should just tell it how it is. i also think you should find out for yourself, not everyone likes the same thing. everyone bigged up a restaurant a few weeks ago in esentepe. i commented that we weren't impressed when we went their. a totally different view from most on the forum. fair comment is always valid but personal slagging off is out of order. why not tell the owner of the establishment if your not happy at the time. we would and have done and will continue to do so. how can they improve if you don't say something at the time?

Isn`t it about time this thread was closed. There can never be a concensus of opinion .The only way this would happen is if we were all clones. This however would be very boring. Would you like to meet yourself all the time.Might suit the self opinionated minority one this forum but I prefer a world where there are different strokes for different folks
