Bisto drops name after 101 years By Ruki Sayid Consumer Editor 27/02/2009 The gravy train hit the buffers yesterday as Bisto announced it was scrapping its famous name after more than a century. With its slogan "Aah! Bisto" the meatflavoured gravy powder has been inseparable from our roasts - and a source of bafflement to the rest of the world - for 101 years. Now Premier Foods is axing the name and putting days of the week on packs instead. From this week jars and cartons will read "Aah! Monday" to "Aah Friday" in a risky rebranding exercise. The firm claims it is all part of a drive to get families to spend more meal times together. Bisto's Darryl Curtis said: "By replacing the name with days of the week we're reminding people that they can enjoy a family meal every day." Company research blames The Simpsons, EastEnders and the Six O'Clock News for disrupting traditional meals. Rob ;-(

For any 'younguns' out there, Bisto means (or meant!): it 'B'rowns 'I't 'S'easons & 'T'hickens, all in 'O'ne. Their other product 'Creamy Rich Authentic Porridge' never really sold!

There isnt any in Supreme or the other supermarkets on the EAST side, hasnt been since before Xmas. NO PAXO either! You will need to go South to Carrefour. Why dont you do a shopping club, every month one family goes to the south and buys for all in the club. If 12 families form a club, that means only 1 months insurance per year, then you collect your shopping from that persons house. It would only be 1 trip a year then for each family! What do you think?

Uuthentichoccie, no you don't need bisto to make proper gravy. stir plain flour into your meat juices, crumble an oxo in to it, mix with a little cold water and stir. Then add your veg. water, gradually otherwise it will go lumpy. then bring to the boil, stirring all the time. You'll end up with gravy like your nanna used to make. affiet ollson

Well, sorry, my Welsh mother in law gave me the best ever recipe for stuffing. simple.... breadcrmbs, onions, copped finely, sage, marge, and a little bit of meat juice. combine and roast. If you want parsley and thyme, the same as above, again, affiet ollsen. if you have a microwave, you can newk it and then finish it in the oven

Hi Dee, you can't believe someone puts a post about bisto gravy??????????????????????????? not all kids know how to make proper gravy...give them a chance to learn how to do it... youdon't like housework or ironing, making 'proper' gravy is quite thereputic, Live and learn, let's just keep the tradition going, even on the cyprus boards, I think it's nice to think the 'kids' want to know how their Nanna made gravy.
