We have been told out title deeds are in sight for our property , we were under the impression that monies we paid for purchase of property included this in our £1, 200 fee to advocate , now he says he want extra for transfer of deeds . My question is what did readers pay solicitors to handle there purchase ? And what did that fee include ?

Hi Pipie Same for us we thought the fee we paid our advocate covered start to finish but now they are asking for £400 to transfer deeds. As for cost we paid £600 as we got a so called special half price deal then another £250 was requested when the new rules came out last year to re-register the contracts on top of this is bank transfer charges every time. All in all it starts to add up. We just pray for the day when its all sorted. Tigger

As a Medview owner I will never have the problem of paying my advocate more money for my title deeds, Medview will never pay the tax that we paid them on purchase and thats if they have not mortgaged the land, so if anyone can do a DIY house purchase do it because having an advocate gives you no safe guard or protection what so ever!

Yes, I agree about DIY purchase. The information is readily available, we can do searches, transfers,PTP ourselves. Lets face it, most of us wouldn't be in the position we're in now if our lawyers had been acting professionally and in our best interests. As BARO admitted, the lawyers her have no duty of care, so why pay extortionate amounts of money to be ripped off by teh vast majority of unscrupulous ones.
