I am wanting to get 2 mobile phones unlocked. Both Sony, 1 D750i & 1 K800i I know there are stacks of shops to choose from but want to know if someone has had either of these phones unlocked and can recommend a shop as I do not want to waste my time running round all the bad ones. Also, if you did get it done, how much did they charge? Many thanks in advance.

Andy, my son had his Nokia unlocked by Lemar, Karakum. It had to be sent away though (about 5 days) and cost TL15. Hope this might help.

We had a Sony T303 unlocked last week - 40TL. Heading down town, passing round tower on right, it's the 2nd alleyway down. Big sign in alley saying phone unlocking. We tried an online unlocking service but they couldn't do it.

Hi AndyP I had a K800i unlocked in Girne the phone was locked to Vodaphone.. Off the high st is an entry that leads to a carpark which is enclosed .. Another way in is opposite Kibtec, head towards the entry at the top end & the shop is on the left .. It cost 50 YTL .. There was a small problem when I wanted to go on contract with Turkcell .. The girl said it wasn't my phone that it belonged to a Turk .. Shed a few tears told her I wanted to keep my number & she obliged ..Apparently money has to be paid to Sony & in order to unlock the phone & he used his own credit card .. Hope this makes sense ..

I Can't believe they get away with charging those sort of prices when in the UK virtually any phone can be unlocked for between 5 and 10 pounds. Pete

Obviously a Sony Ericsson isn't a "virtually any phone" .. A Nokia is & cheap to unlock in TRNC..
