Strangely enough we went to a british owned restaurant last week and the sauces were all kept away because the brits customers would put them in thier bags. I know they os a fair bit more but to stoop to that level makes you ashmed> Thet are not always easy to get here i know but tat poor restaurant owner has to constantly replace.. I suggested to him to put the sauce in small dishes as we do for our mint sauce and horse radish. I have even seen people go to a charity buffett and free buffets advertised with carrier bags and fill them. We are lucky we dont get customers like this only the odd glass as they are engraved with the name goes missing. Cheap living for some.

What annoys me is people filling bags at breakfast time with bread, butter, eggs, cheese & jam etc. to take out for their lunch. The argument is from some that they are paying for it but perhaps the price in a hotel could come down if people didn't steal food.

Lilli - don't worry about us, we won't knick your sauces!! On a more serious note, it is apalling that people will sink to such depths. There will always be the "something for nothing" contingent, but times are hard everywhere and it makes me so cross that people are literally "taking the bread from others mouths. Here in Bury St Edmunds we are seeing restaurants and shops closing every day. But to sink so low as stealing brown sauce and chocolate is terrible. I agree, name and shame!!

With love

I think most supermarkets now have cctv.

Having gotten to know the office staff in one local supermarket and having spent some great mornings having coffee whilst watching the screens I can confirm that they have been installed to 'cater' for expats and to a lesser extent mainland Turks.

H The Wicks How are you both. Its a sad state of affairs when they know the shops are sturglng so hard to make a living. you could maybe expect it of mainland turks because they earn peanuts but they are afraid for religious reasons. My darling I will give you a set of glasses. Most people admire and ask if they can buy them and you know what im like they are in a bag and go home with them. Could be a good marketing opportunity. Im just happy to give them a reminder of thier night. AJ thats so sad what do they think of us. Before the brigade well they have taken from us get on my case two wrongs will never make a right. speak soon lots of love xxxxxx

AJ good job then they dont have data protection laws in NC. Thats not allowed over here and my thoughts would be that the TC is not squeaky clean either. Maybe not just top of the list.

The Clog wearer is getting worried

Will the thieves choose the cheese or the curry?

When the Mad Crusader goes shopping

If they've stolen the cheese it will get him popping

Never mind AJ will whatch the screen

I hope he sees nothing obcene

The Hippo thinks it is a conspiricy

Stealling cheese to makes the Sad Crusaders life a misery

English or Brit he is still confused

Hippo thinks he's blown his main fuse

Around where I live I think any TC would have to be really desperate to steal because if caught they would be shunned by their friends and family.

I work for the Identity & Passport service now & I'm getting worried about identity theft. There seems to be a bloke who lives in Lapta who has so many identities it's hard to keep up with him.

I think this supermarket may be able to increase it's share of the market.

With all the "gossip-hungry" ex-pats around, how many will pop in and check on whose photo they recognise?

If they took a small stall at the Chateau it would be packed.

i find this a little hard to believe.

we have cctv and when we caught on tape the village racist in the back of our garden on it, all the police did was give her a visit. they took no other action.

but then i guess she is a cypriot and has a family tie with the local police somewhere.

cctv systems are great fun and you would be amazed at what you can catch on camera!

Message 36, I think a stint in the Army would be a good punishment for a thief.

I'm sure the army don't want them, but the discipline would maybe sort them out.

I bet he/she wouldn't be so keen to steal again.

Another thing i thought of was to stick a picture of the offender in the shop window, and post a picture on these boards.

most of the big supermarkets have cctv cameras but no one is watching.

thieves were my biggest fear when we first moved to çatalköy.

i think the best way to keep away from them is having a well trained guard dog.

Bellapasta,

- or having a neighbour with a guard dog.

They generally only bark when something unknown or strange is in the area. Our neighbour's Alsation doesn't even bark at our cats! - And it knows my voice so well that when I shout 'shut up' in English, it does!

I have to admit that I sneak over and give it a dog biscuit now and then...

Keith.

hi keith

as you said they only bark if there is something strange. so you, your cats or any cat is not a stranger to him anymore.

my dogs are always wellcome nearly to everybody if we are at home. but they never let anybody in the garden when we are not there apart from a couple of neighbours, gardener and the pool cleaner.

i personally think any dog would feel danger and try to protect.

or this idea makes me feel better at leats
