Forget politics....forget gossips... Summer is round the corner and soon we are all be sitting in our garden and enjoy the greenery. I specially brought this subject just to give us eachother some gardening tips.... Here is couple of gardening tips from me: 1) When you planting a plant in a pot always put broken plates or terracotta pieces onto hole so soil does not block it.I always put thick newspapaer on top just to hold the nutrition. 2) Weeds? Not easy! But dont throw them away. When you cut them stick them into a plastic long pipe, cut a cocacola bottle from the bottom and put it on the edge of the pipe, turn it upsidedown. As weeds starts rotting green juice will start dripping down.Dilute this 1/10 water and feed it to your plants. Here is your free babybio. 3) Potato peels, orange peels, odd salad leaves? never throw them away, bury them into your vegetable patch to get ready for next year. Thank you Huseyin

Out in my garden today here in Cheshire, daffodils, tulips & crocus all in bloom, the blue tits checking the nest boxes, thrushes, robins & blackbirds flitting about, can't keep them going with titbits. I forget all about the credit crunch and politics when I am gardening in the little bit of sunshine we are having here in the UK. Forcast a nice week end - great.

With the summer on its way here in the TRNC do not forget to cover all of the soil surface area in your potted plants with stones. Its allows you to still water your plants but cuts down on evaporation when it starts to get warmer. AJ

Woodspeckie, had swallows here for the past week,on their way to UK!! Got a friendly robin, and I think it's a redstart, grey with red tail showing when it flies. My first winter/spring here.Have a lovely show of tete a tete daffodils, and 2 clumps of cyclamen,a Cypriot friend said known as rabbit ears.I can see why. Have got a dozen tall yellow iris just showing colour. Mike

Mike,I had this problem few years ago - I think they call it creeping jenny. As you say roots go everywhere, only thing I could do was paint glyphosate(weed killer) on the leaves - it then takes it back into the plant and down to the roots. Off to Cyprus today.kind regards,Steve

Mike, bright and breezy in blackpool, but about 8 degrees at 8am. This wet, cold and windy winter has gone on and on and followed a similar summer? in 2008; so looking forward to seeing what is growing in Cyprus at present - its supposed to be the best time of the year for colour. kind regards,Steve

Mikelapta, Whatever else you do, get the yellow flowers off before it self-seeds. If you don't, then no matter how bad it is now, it will be ten times worse next year! Glyphosate is the way to go, though... Keith.

Hi, Yes madmazz you are right they are infact edible and they are a lot more easier to pull out then other ones... Unfortunately their bulbs are so deep you cant hardly get rid of them not unless obviously use chemicals which I am totally against.. All the best, Huseyin
