Strictly speaking it is "illegal" for Showtime - like sa,y Sky - to knowingly supply you.. as you are outside the area where they have the rights to broadcast. There are dealers in Syria , Lebanon, Iraq, etc., that supply folk in Cyprus. I believe there are members paying for a Showtime sub card who post here. Strictly speaking, only companies like Nova Cyprus have the rights to broadcast pay tv, via satellite, in Cyprus, but DigitTurk "claim" rights to supply "TRNC" .... I believe Cyprusishome is a Showtime subscriber.

emineden1 re msg 4 you should have a 1m fitted .. A 80 cm will do, but goes "off" quicker on wet days.. gates: re msg 6, if you phone SKY they would tell you the same ;) sunrise: Dopi are TOTALLY illegally sharing a genuine SHOWTIME card, and their de-crypt ion signal is broadcast using a satellite owned by the same group that earn their money by broadcasting genuine pay tv clients.. This "plastic Policeman assures you that your Dopi will have to pacify clients when they see "this channel is scrambled".. Now either I am going to have "egg on my face" ( as a idiot scaremongerer ) - or I'm correct - in which case you should consider asking Dopi to pay monthly..

yes Mark we still subscribe. How is better half? All you say is correct as far as I am aware. Even so I am in control of my own card unlike all those with Digital Supreme, Dopi etc where if one card is disconnected every one is without TV. Den, go to Cold in Alsancak, opposite Cenap and next but one to Fast Food. That is where we get ours from, into 3rd year so do not know start up costs for dish and box. Think it is http://www.coldsat.com Next time we are passing yours will give you our opinions, David & Christine up the hill from you.

Hotbird has lots of channels, but most English language ones are scrambled as they are part of a pay tv package, with English as the language for movies/ serials and local subtitles. There are no scrambled Hotbird channels aimed at UK viewers other than BBC Prime.. Nilesat is the better option as there are more free English lang. channels and options to subscribe to UK orientated sport ( e.g. Showtime)

If I couldn't stretch to a 4.2m to get BBC/ ITV etc, then *I'd* go for moving the Hotbird dish to look at Nilesat .. you'd get a few English Channels for free. Well "English" with Arabic adverts ;)

thanks mmm i only use 4 or 5 times per year so big dish isnt best option for me . i do allready have nilesat and hotbird via a next free to air box,the hotbird has all but gone and scrambled, thats why i thought i may be able to buy a card to pay to view?,or alternatively align the dish to something better? thanks so far kav

re msg 14 How about this suggestion. Replace the Hotbird dish with a 1.8m and bring a SKY receiver out with you each time..! You'd get a heck of a lot of Strong signal UK content ( using the red button on BBC News24 ) and most UK BBC channels ( save BBC R 5) and can use the box back home !

re msg 16 Kavenkoy 1/ Yes, you *could* take one of your multi room boxes out.. ! You would get 50% of the SKY stuff e.g most SKY Movies/ SKY Sports, Discovery ,Nat Geo, UK Golds ( or whatever the channel is called this week ! ), BBC News 24, SKY News, etc... 2/ You MIGHT get a letter from SKY, if they can't see all your units plugged into a UK phone line - esp if they are on a contract less than a year old..

Hi to anyone who can advise me , this by the way is all double dutch to me . All i know is i've got a dish and a box . there's about 500 channels or more , but only about 5 in english and 3 of those are God channels 1 news and one for children , the rest are from various places around the globe plus the porn , so i take dvd's with me . As i am only there a couple of times a year , we asked if we could subscibe to the times that we are actually here . They said no , so it was'nt worth taking out the subscription . what would you recommend i do ? Many thanks , Simbas

Simbas, re msg 18 It SOUNDS like you have a dish pointing at hotbird.. if you had it aimed at Nilesat at least you'd get more FREE English movies / serials... re msg 19 It would "appear" you have joined to promote "guy you know" who can let you watch UK tv on a pc... ;)

Dear Simbas , re msg 24 The way thinks are, now I expect you'll be getting quite a few private messages offering the service Your will need a professional installer.. the dish has to look in a different direction and look lower down .. so it *MIGHT* need relocating.. but the same dish / lnb can be used so we aren't talking a major job/ cost.. 10-15 minutes if the dish can just be spun round, plus the time indoors to rescan for the new channels.
