Hi all,

i was shocked to find out how much stuff goes missing from the UK to North Cyprus in the mail.

I am thinking of trying to organise a group shipment every month to North Cyprus from the Uk for people wanting to make sure

their presents, parcels documents etc,etc get here in one piece.

Am trying to gauge the demand for it, i would organise it through the website.

If you think its a good idea and let me know and i'll see if i can't get it off the ground..

Am i right in thinking most people are in the Girne area?

Thanks,

Pete

Hi Pete

We would be interested - but we live in Arapkoy - how would you go about getting this organised?

I have been in touch with a couple of companies who transport regularly to North Cyprus, and they have been interested.

I think the best way would be if we could have a date by which the package has to be with the transporter in the uk, then somewhere that could be delivered to in N.Cyprus.

I run the website http://www.lincguide.com so i may be able to get a good deal in return for advertising space.

I could post the following months cut off date for shipments on the site too, am sure Izzet would be happy for them to be shown here too..

what do you think? can you see any problems?

Pete great idea but my first thought is customs, how will you get round that one.

Sending anything by courier from UK is expensive and i have worked it out that it is cheaper to pay the excess baggage then to send by courier that is of course if you can find someone who is coming out and willing to bring stuff with them.

Let me know if you manage to get this off the ground as i am very interested.

Teresa,

I was thinking if all the parcels are sent via one consignment/ container from the uk , via ship.

would there be a problem with customs? i know its not as quick....

I'm not sure how it works exactly....

Does anyone know?

I would be very interested, but again I know from past experience customs may cause you a problem, please keep me informed.

Pete i have just had a delivery this week fron Turkey of 2 dresses packed in 1 box, it came with a cargo company and was held at customs for us to go and collect even though it was marked as a sample.

We was told that if the cargo charge is less then 50tl then chances are that the parcel would not be held but if it is over 50tl then they hold it and you have to pay before they release. Not an easy task.

Like i said before it works out cheaper to pay excess baggage then to pay delivery charges so maybe that would be the best way.
