Anyone went skiing to south?

Someone told me that there is not enough snow accumulation this year yet.

The website also shows lifts as "CLOSED" too:

How would you get there from Kyrenia? Would you have to fly into Paphos and stay in the Greek side if you wanted to ski or is this something you could do in a day and come back again?

You cross the border and follow the signs

I went 2 years ago during summer and I believe it took us around 2.5 hours.

So you can drive in the morning, enjoy a full day of skiing/snowboarding and come back.

But we cannot take a North Cyprus hire car over can we? Just wondered if there was another way we could get there and stay at our apartment rather than flying into Paphos and having to stay in the south for the duration - sorry if I am waffling!

HI,

We are in our apartment in Girne for Feb. Going over to the Troodos area for a few days. Plan to walk across border at Ledra Palace in Lefkosa, pickup hire car (booked) and stay in hotel (booked) for 4 nights. Don't ski, just want to see some snow.

I know people have reservations (due to Third Party Insurance) but we have now hiired a car in the south a couple of times. It really is easy - fly to Larnaca, pick up car at airport and drive to villa. It takes no more than 1.5 hours and is well signposted. It costs around £15 for 1 month of insurance cover which you buy at the border. You can now come and go at your leisure and the whole island is yours to explore. We went to Troodos far a walk on New Years Day - it was fabulous and took us 1.5 hours to drive all the way to the ski resort !
