I have been with them 2 years now and received very good service, not had to queue for hours on end. I have recieved a high rate of interest untill this month i was getting 22% this has now dropped but depending on the amount you invest is significantly higher than the norm. I am told this is because of their lending policy and the way they invest however I am very happy with the quality of service they give, I am sure the do make mistakes and errors but I can only speak as I find. Do I recommend them ?? I recommend you speak to them compare what they offer with what you need and make your own informed judgement.

Ah! So nice to be stupid. Never have to wonder why one (new) bank can/will do it and another (long established) bank doesn't or can't do it... PS. When was this banking disaster in the TRNC again? Made very interesting reading at the time and afterwards, I remember. High, higher, highest interest rates and low, lower, lowest profile for the bank owners, some who could be found again in the South. Count the days, count your blessings...

Thanks Nige, Bought the place in Alsacak one of Fikri Terkan's gaffs all a done deal now so joined the happy throng waiting on PTP etc, the place is already part furnished thanks to Homefront so we need to come out and get stuff done like amenities etc and get moved in properly, just tring to pull things together need to start looking at Banks, internet etc before we come out shortly. I asked you a simple question i.e. did you recommend continental, you gave me a good response with your experience dealing with them and then stated you recommend I compare them with my needs fair and good advice. What is Dutch on about???? is it construcive advice in code????

The Saints... Would recommended Creditwest to you and if you email Sukru on the above address he gives you will find he will make arrangements to come and visit you next time you are out to answer any questions etc. Andysue... I don't think they have a minimum amount, I originally opened a savings account in TL and a current account to use for "future" direct debits for when I will need to pay utility bills etc with a couple of hundred pounds. I notice whenever the savings rate changes I receive an email back home letting me know the new rate... which is a nice courtesy? Sukru... re Hattikins question above... has their been any movement re internet fraud cover which you said a couple of months back your IT people were looking into... as yet I have not activated any online facility until and when I know this "guarantee" is in place? Regards Joseph

If we stick to your original comparison of 15% vs 18% after tax and that the given month is 31 days you will receive the following amounts on 100.000tl deposit. 15% = 1172 18% = 1406 We never claim to pay the highest interest rates in the market as that has different connotations to it but do pride ourselves on providing the best service.

Creditwest cerainly have by far the best service level I have found. At Christmas they had by far the best 12 month rate, so sometimes one bank has a better deal for what you want personally. Shop around and have accounts in a number of banks so you can do things quickly and from wherever you are at the time without hold ups. One thing is you will not find anyone better to help you than Sukru and Figen at CW, they tell it as it is and have a huge amount of experience.

HSBC Well, 5 years ago, most ex-pats were with them but I would say that the majority of them have now moved on to other banks because HSBC were not interested in pleasing their clients. They kept you waiting for hours on end, gave the wrong advice, paid out lower interest rates than any other bank in the TRNC. In short, they were rubbish. If you decide to bank with them, then I give you a year before you got somewhere else.
