I've bought two perfectly good oil filled radiator type heaters from Amandas auctions for use in my apartment, if that is of any interest.

Oil filled radiators are no more efficient than any other electric heaters. You burn a kW of electricity, you get a kW of heat (CoP 1:1). If you want efficiency stick to your a/c as it can have a CoP of up to 4:1.

We purchased 8 Noirot electric heaters from Poweryourlife in Catalkoy last year and used them this winter. We are very pleased with them and the running costs are quite reasonable. We also bought a heated towel rail for the bathroom which makes the bathroom lovely and warm whilst showering. The eight radiators were fitted in one day with no mess and no ugly pipes. I would highly recommend them.

Vaughan is quite right. Electric space heating is very expensive. Electric towel rails are not so bad as the volume of bathrooms tend to be small less energy is required. As they are oil or fluid filled they take some time to warm up so not so good for immediate use, with a timer they would be a better bet. I like warm bathrooms so I fitted a 2kw wall mounted fan heater in one of our bathrooms, it makes a pleasant difference. Care needed as electricity and water do not go so well together. I could not find one here so brought one back fom the UK. Regards Nick Mr Fixit.

Hi Piggy. We have six 500watt and two 1000watt convector heaters which are individually controlled. Last year they cost approximately £700 including fitting. The electric towel rail was £300 fitted and provides almost instant heat. Poweryourlife visited our house to estimate how many radiators we would need and gave us an estimate. They also took us to see a property where they had fitted them and we were able to talk to their customer. At no time was there any pressure to buy. You might find the Noirot website useful http://www.noirot.fr Regards Sue

I phoned them last year and they were still waiting for stock to arrive. They offered to come out and survey my house so they could tell me how many I needed but I only wanted one anyway so told them I did not need a survey. They told me they would contact me as soon as their stock arrived and they had finalised the prices for the different sizes. No further contact so bought more wood and have been nice and warm all winter.
