As the saying goes, Use them or Lose them. You didn't use them, so KTHY took them away.

I do sympathise with you though, they really did cut the UK in half by removing the Scottish flights, and more than a third of their clientelle. But they reckoned they could be more profitable by flights to London and Manchester.

I used them quite a few times, until they stopped, it was only one flight a week on Monday morning, every time I used them the flight was full, speaking to other people here they say when they used the the Monday flight it was always full.

Your absolutely correct I travelled to Ercan from Glasgow many times and even the last flights in October were full. Flying from Heathrow in December you were almost guaranteed to have a row of seats all to yourself.

We too lost our flights from Belfast to Ercan. But this year I found that Dublin was going Dublin Istanbul then Istanbul Ercan 5 times a week bliss.

I see that KLM fly from Glasgow to Ataturk airport Istanbul prices start at £191 and then go to Turkish Airlines to book from Ataturk to Ercan (Lefkosa) online. I know its a long flight but its not too bad only one connection instead of Glasgow/Stansted/Istanbul/Ercan.

I agree Iis a great shame the flights from Glasgow was canceled especially as they were so well used. As much as I do not want to fly to the South it does leave us up here with few options.

Irishvixen I checked out the Klm flights from Glasgow but they go to Amsterdam then to Istanbul so thats just as bad.

I understand that if you fly to Istanbul with any carrier apart from THY you do not go into transit

Timothy

I too have travelled several times from Scotland and as has been said flights were always full .By comparison like WACKYJIM my last 2 out of 3 flights out of Stansted have been more than half empty.

Are you talking about Scotland or N.I as not using the flights, as I can only answer for the ones I have used from Scotland.

Was told by my ticket agent that due to limited number of planes ,it had been decided to consolidate round middle and south UK as an economical measure, the logic being that the people from elsewhere would fly from there.

Unfortunately the other 2 choices were forgotten about.1)Fly thro Larnaca2) Dont go at all.

Flying to Lanaca is an option, but prefer to fly to Ercan. Option 2. wont work unless I sell my house in Karsiyka, It looks like I`ll just have to go south of the border.eg Manchester,Stanstead,Heathrow etc.

Up here in aberdeen its a total nightmare.

We are flying to trnc in march.glasgow/stansted with easyjet staying overnite in glasgow cos of 7am checkin, then stansted/ercan with pegasus.

No flight from aberdeen/stansted.

A cheap flight with pegasus turns out to be quiet expensive when you add on overnite stay glasgow, fuel for car, flight fron glasgow/stansted.

Hate useing 2 airlines !!!! baggage allowence ...less on one....more on the other!!!

Flew from Aberdeen in October with Globespan to Paphos and then taxi to Esentepe which I didnt find to bad. Good flight times prices and transfers.

A lot easier than the different flight options although I dont think flights start in Aberdeen until April. There is 2 flights per week from Glasgow all year.

Hello Whitemad. For flights from Dublin to Ercan, go to Budget travel.ie and click on to their worldwide section and you should find them there.

There is also a thread further back on the forum on flights from Dublin that you might want to check out.

You can fly Dublin to Ercan all year round with Turkish Airlines. You need to use their call centre 0844 800 6666 - I got flights end of May 2008 returning early June for £249 each. Not bad
