Also try http://www.cyprus-weddings.net . There is quite a bit of paperwork required and Carol can take you through the process. As someone who is getting married at Bellapais in April, I think I can speak from experience so far.

My boyfriend were thinking about getting married in Paris (his brother lives there with his girlfriend but sadly they have split up now and they were doing the research for us) but having read this thread we may be persuaded to get married in NC (we have just recently taken possession of our villa at Sweetwater Bay, Tatlisu) - Dawnie1 - I would be grateful to receive any information you have about your great day - are you having a church blessing at St. Andrew's - Many thanks - Jackie

Before you start spending money on advisors and marriage planners get the following documents ready: A cerificate of non-inpediment each from your local council office Passports and Photocopies You can go to the registras office in Girne and select a date for marriage and nominate your witnesses. The registrar can come to St Andrews and after the ceremony you can sign your marriage certificate (a fee will be paid to the registrar and a cash incentive to work on a Staurday)! Keith Lloyd can arrange a blessing at Bellapais, he does not charge for this service but will except donations for the SOS childrens hospice. A marriage certificate issued at the Girne registrars office is recognised by the UK government and the ROC administration. If you need anymore information email me, I will not charge a penny for this service, just an invite and a beer will suffice!

Yes you can renew your vows at St Andrews, I have not got the vicars contact details but will find for you, he will probably like to meet you first to go through the service and your choice of hymns and set a date.

Thanks aslan for the information. I would like to ask further questions for example about the letter of non-impediment this document does not exist in the USA. Do you have an idea of how American citizens get married. In this situation one person is American and the other is African. I read somewhere that an American citizen could just get a notarized affidavit stating that he/she is free to get married

Major Msg 17 - You are picking up a thread that is nearly two years old - the rules change frequently - so for instance the pastor at St Andrews has changed and the locum pastor (who will be replaced with a new one in due course) might not be willing to do blessings. I think you might want to look for some newer threads and ask details from people like Teresa & Maz who both know a lot. You would also need to check what the authorities in USA see as valid.

Following on flightholiday' scomment, suggest you contact Teresa or one of the other top two wedding planners who know all the answers. I know a lot, but as to American (don't know the rules on that one), but you can e mail the church (google St.Andrew's Church Kyrenia). New incumbent now. Blessing only, unless you come in through Larnaca and get a priest to come over to the north, then a wedding may be possible. B lessings often contain strict rules that some folk don't like, but they do like the setting for the photos. Lots of people have ceremonies in other places and a 'secular' ceremony of exchanging vows etc. There is also info on the web about getting married in N.Cyprus. Good luck! Any more quesitons? Always happy to help, but the wedding planners know the most.

Just thought. If you wish to renew at St.Andrew's double check on photography. The last Chaplain would not allow photos videos etc inside church except at the end of ceremonies. But there is a new chaplain so he might be entirely different. Also don't know how he feels. All the chaplains have different ideas even as to when and how the ceremony is. Whether a separate ceremony or part of morning worship. But I am sure the new man will be helpful. Or you can have a 'secular' ceremony just about anywhere you choose where of course photographers are allowed to do what they want. This can take place in any restaurant, on the beach, or in a private garden - anywhere. Choices, choices, choices.
