I went to Ikea this morning to exchange something that they had messed up and the woman on the exchange desk was about as friendly as Hitler...I told her in no uncertain terms that I didnt care for her attitude and demanded to see the manager, another pretty little girl came out to put the situation right...and the fat ignorant ugly greek thing that served me originally was sent away with a flea in her ear lol.

Dear Catalkykid, re msg 1

1/ As I keep asking what has Greece / Greeks got to do with IKEA in Cyprus ?

2/ You'll find on another VERY recent thread "northies" pointing out that at least one CAN exchange

3/ Are you saying poorly trained shop floor staff are confined to GCs.. sadly I have news for you... I'm up to £1000 in compo from BT for a catalogue of errors - today I was told my BT ADSL line had been restricted - "fair usage policy"

When I respectfully pointed the service I was on, I was told to ring another freephone number where I was assured the "restriction" was lifted.

I don't know if you noticed but it seems the quality of many services to expats leaves a lot to be desired north of the Green line and isn't being so easily resolved... :(

Nice try at making a racial slant on a bad shopping experience..

"Dont try that in a Pakistani shop here in Stoke, they tell you bugger off..personal experience."

Well does this mean:

1/ don't shop in Stoke

2/ don't frequent all shops owned by Pakistanis

3/ don't frequent this particular owner's shop

4/ you don't have the necessary skills / to "negotiate" your dispute or take it to the appropriate trading stds dept and you are unaware of your consumer rights

On my rare shopping forays 'South of the green line' I have found the attitudes of most (not all) GC's superior and condescending.

However, having worked in retail in UK I can understand a bad attitude when a great many customers are as rude as they sometimes are here.

Thanks for your very positive input - as always - it's great to see you have "mended" your ways and are supportive of posters...irrespective of their viewpoints..

Vote with your feet as to which shop/s you use! I could mention good ones in TRNC and in the ROC, and bad ones in both areas also. These forums are invaluable to find out which ones to use!

they're not a nation of shopkeepers, or happy people at all.....

Try ccrossing into the south at the lokmaci crossing point, and see the grumpy policeman, purpose made to put off tourists.

Unmotivated staff in the shops on lokmaci (ledra) street, people looking to pick fights out of any random person..........

thats why our place is in the North. Where all policeman smile, and employees in department stores follow the same service method as the one in turkey.....(not leaving yyour tail until all your quieries have been answered)!!

Dear Canyavuz, re msg 11

" see the grumpy policeman, purpose made to put off tourists. [ at crossing points ]"

I KNOW this is a difficult concept for you to grasp, but most GCs aren't going to smile when they need to man a "checkpoint" - as the EU's first line of defence against illegal immigration.

Strangely they are much friendlier when you arrive at LCA / PFO... did you bother to ask yourself WHY.. ?

"Unmotivated staff in the shops on lokmaci (ledra) street" - their loss in a tough economic climate - if even true..

" people looking to pick fights out of any random person.......... "

Oh, yes, I saw this "all the time" on my many to and fro visits....

Sorry, but I've found Turks/ TCs / Greeks/ GCs / Russians / Syrians, etc., to be very friendly - you are the one "looking for a problem" , I expect...

Perhaps you missed threads in the past re the "happy smiling staff" on Turkish Cyprus Airways..and attempts at till rip offs in supermarkets..your generalise

Unless anyone wants this thread to continue under the original posting then this thread will be closed due to the usual 2 posters turning it into a slagging match.

I use some other "ethnic Minority" shops and they are very polite and helpful.I really do think they have a chip on their shoulder and that they are owed something by the rest of us.Perhaps if theydidnt stay open 18 hrs a day for seven days a week and got some proper rest they might be a bit more pleasant..

The reason is perfectly obvious the greeks (as referred to in mmmms link ( http://encarta.msn.co.uk/encyclopedia_761578820_7/Cyprus.html ) are scared when you mention the word exchange. They do not want to exchange anything including land.

mmmmm,

you cant can't learn to keep a disussion as a discussion. You want to turn every message of mine into an argument.

What i posted was my opinion. How can i research my opinion?

Please look up the definition of opinion.

You need to learn to keep things at a discussion level.........your not liked my many members on this forum because of your approach to discussions, like you're superior, and somewhat "always correct".

just dont come here to live.......you wouldn't be liked much

"you cant can't learn to keep a disussion as a discussion. You want to turn every message of mine into an argument. "

well let me see.. could it be the use of Idiot, or telling me I know nought about CY / TR / GR Politics ;) ?!

You see Canyavuz - SOME posters on here - I might not have one thing in common politically - but we somehow manage...

Thanks, I'm well aware of the definition of opinion - if you formed some based on incorrect info.......

"You need to learn to keep things at a discussion level.........your not liked my many members on this forum because of your approach to discussions, like you're superior, and somewhat "always correct".

"just dont come here to live.......you wouldn't be liked much ;)"..

When you are wearing "long trousers", re forum banter - revert - you might learn something..

Know this.. I'm NOT in a popularity contest and if/ when I choose to live in Cy, or wherever - I won't be asking your "permission"

I should have added that although I spar on a regular basis with Border, he has never ever been downright rude to me and for that he earns a modicum of respect.
