I dont know about the feasibility but in terms of security you should make sure that, the fact that you are living in North is not known to Greek Cypriots. They may show erratic behaviour when faced with something against their propaganda(i.e. a person living happily in North Cyprus under Turkish Cypriot state's administration)

PIPIE Many Turkish Cypriots go south to work on a daily and I do know of brits who send their children to school in the south so there are no problems doing that.

I agree with lovingcyprus. There are many Turkish Cypriots working in South. It can be far more problematic if you are a non-TC living in North Cyprus. Greek Cypriot administration sees this as a breach of the isolation of Turkish Cypriots so they actively brainwash GCs to see non-TCs in North as enemies. Yet, if you are lucky you may have not a problem at all, work for a peace loving GC company or a neutral multinational firm.

We have friends that want to come and meet us whilst we are in TRNC next week. They are staying in Paphos and are willing to drive. What would be the best Boarder crossing to use? Nicosia or Güzelyurt. We will be in Lapta so could go to either to meet them, but which would be the best/quickest from Paphos? Thanks in Advance. MC

Metahan would be the quickest (time wise not distance) as the roads from Paphos to Lefkosa are good, whereas the rods from Paphos to Zohdia (Güzelyurt) crossing are not. Here are all the crossing points:- Agios Dometios (Nicosia) Which is also known as Metehan is considered the main crossing point between the two sides of Cyprus due to sheer volume of people that cross at this checkpoint. It is located in Nicosia and it is a checkpoint that handles the crossing of, pedestrians, cyclists, vehicles, and goods. Black Knight (British Eastern Sovereign Base Area) Or also known as the Azios Nikolaos, Strovilia, or Akyar crossing is one of the two crossings points that are located in the British Eastern Sovereign Base Area. This crossing point allows for the movement of pedestrians, vehicles, and goods across the border in either direction. Ledra Palace (Nicosia) This crossing point is strictly for pedestrians and cyclists. However, it is also used as a crossing point for diplomatic vehicles. This checkpoint is also known as the Ledra Palas crossing. Pergamos (British Eastern Sovereign Base Area) This is one of the two checkpoints located in the British Eastern Sovereign Base Area. It is also known as, Beyarmudu, or Dhekelia. It can be used for the crossing of pedestrians, vehicles, and goods. Zohdia (Güzelyurt) This crossing point may also be known as, Astromeritis, Morpho, Morfu, Güzelyurt, Omorfo, or Morfou. This was the last checkpoint to be opened, as it is located to the west of Nicosia. This checkpoint allows for the crossing of pedestrians, vehicles, and goods.

Hi everyone. sorry to bring up border crossings once more. have decided to leave a hire car on the south side and walk through the border to be collected at the other side (by taxi, or hire company or some other means). Can we walk through Metehan border. We crossed a few weeks ago by car and it was easy as anything - no problems - same for going back through. However, just want to be sure as we are travelling with luggage and teenagers from Paphos and don't fancy any border hassle with being on foot. Ta smudge

Msg 2 "I dont know about the feasibility but in terms of security you should make sure that, the fact that you are living in North is not known to Greek Cypriots. They may show erratic behaviour when faced with something against their propaganda(i.e. a person living happily in North Cyprus under Turkish Cypriot state's administration)" I've crossed over regularly on official business and have made no secret of living in the north. I think the crucial issue is whether the Greek Cypriots would have good reason to be annoyed i.e. if the person concerned was living on land seized from Greek Cypriots after 1974. If you've not done anything wrong or controversial then no problem.
