can anyone help with this one?

flying with pegasus the website says:

flights to the uk, 25kg and excess charged at 8gbp.

flights to the trnc, 20kg and excess charged at 4tl.

also saying hand luggage weight is 8kg? i thought it was standard 5kg??

my bags are always over weight , can anyone confirm this is correct?

or have you been charged differently in recent weeks?

Ref Message 1,

I think you will find the 20 KG weight & 14 TL excess is flying from turkek not UK.

We have not long travelled with them and were told that the allowance that they go by was what was on the ticket, which was a good job. We were slightly over on the hand luggage and were told not to worry about it.

We fly out of Humberside to Larnaca in May with Thomas Cook, their luggage allowance is 15kg each or if you pay (which we have) £15 each we are allowed an extra 5kg, this does not include the hand luggage which is also 5kg

We always use Pegasus - it's 25k plus hand luggage - if you are not sure about hand luggage allowance - dowload information from their website and take it with you when you check-in - hope this helps.

We too use Pegasus....partly because of the generous luggage allowances when taking stuff over for the apartment !

Regarding hand luggage...it varies.

Sometimes they adhere strictly to 5KG and actually weigh it.

Other times they don't even give it a second glance.

I can't believe the size of some of the bags that some Turks take onto the plane on their way to Istanbul !

i lent my tc friend my suitcase and they trashed it in istanbul, so he brought me a new turk style one, which is supersize!

hence needing to know the weight allowances.

Fire starter..If it says 25kg on your ticket Iwould say that you have an argument with them if they try to charge you excess.I fly with Thomsons a lot and they allow 23 kg on some of their hols. and20kg on all the others.Thomas Cook lost my custom when they started allowing only 15kg.

Yeah I too get peed off when the plane turns around at Istanbul - one person had a large instrument and two large bags - perhaps the staff at Stansted should be informed!!!!

flew out with Pegasus recently and phoned their customer services to verify weight limits.

25k for hold and 8 for hand luggage - (they do weigh your hand luggage).

We bought a very useful gadget off the BA online shop (you don't need to fly to purchase) - digital hand held scales - which we used and found to be very accurate and meant we were able to juggle items around in our luggage - as we always seem to travel like pack horses transporting goodness knows what with us! They cost around £18 - which if it saves you being charged £8 per kilo for excess baggage we considered them to be well worth it!

Always used the bathroom scales till my daughter bought us one of those hand held items Chico has just mentioned.Very accurate and you can stuff them in your case so you can weigh them coming back...

Recently flown LGW to Ercan with CTA. 25 kilos plus 5kg hand baggage. Charge extra if you are a little 'tubby' and want to use the toilet.

I also noticed on the Pegasus website that as of 20th April they are introducing the limitation on carrying fluids in hand luggage. 100ml max bottle capacity regardless of how much actual liquid is in the container (e.g. if you've only got a little bit in a 200ml container it will not be allowed). Also, all liquids (including lipstick, mascara, etc) must be put into a sealable clear plastic bag and put separately through the x-ray machine.

A friend visited recently from Stansted and said that a lady was not allowed to bring a large teddy bear in the cabin as she already had hand luggage. Apparently there was a bit of an altercation at the boarding gate and the teddy had to be left behind :(

They were definitely weighing big looking hand luggage at Ercan last week when my friend left and it wasn't just the Brits

Not trying to be picky but when did you ring them as it is 22.45 in the UK on a Sunday evening and their UK offices would be closed.

I can only go by documentation when I advise people.

Hi we travelled with Pegasus from Stanstead and they made us upack one cas and place in the other to even the weight. Claimed one was too heavy and due to health and safety could do be handled. Weighted my hand luggage also which was over 5kg so that had to go in the case. Result 60 pound charge. It seems its who is on the desk.
