Hi there, I have heard that you have to get a UK police report as part of residency application. Is this true? Any other information about residency also welcome. We will be starting it next week some time so please send as much information to me as possible, much appreciated all! Regards

You do not need to get a police report for your PTP apparently they check with Interpol now and as long as you are not on thier wanted list you are OK, you can join the happy throng and wait 3 years or more to get it.

Sorry the Saints. You have needed a Police report for PTP since 2006. You need to organise this in the UK. yourself.

Rubbish, on initial application Interpol are contacted as to whether there's any outstanding warrant on your named application. If having skipped bail in the UK and the Met are informed of your where abouts being in the TRNC you will be extradited via Turkey. TRNC police work very closely with the Met. No haven for the wicked! Richard

Thank you Richard, scruff I only applied for mine in January 2009, no police report required as Richard so rightly said, TRNC contact Interpol and they contact the met if your a wrong un to let them know where you are. Also under the rehabilitation of offenders act in the UK after 7 years of being a good citizen your record is cleaned, but there is a stinger Interpol keeps a record of real naughties (not misdemeaners) hence the interpol involvement which is quite common now your local station can say nope he is clean because of the rehabilitation of offenders act but Interpol will say 20 years ago he was a right wrong un believe it or not when a brit goes to the Falklands they run an Interpol check on you.

We had to get a police report, went to the local police station, made the request, paid the money, recived the report, sent it to the solicitors, they confirmed that they had got it, nothing heard since. Good solicitors eh! RD

re. message 9. Sorry if I'm out of date. They must have changed the rules yet again (nothing new) & back to what used to happen before the Police report was required. We got our PTP back in 2002 & there was no requirement then. I was given to understand that Interpol was contacted back then.

Msg 11, Rogerdodger > solicitors < => There are NO solicitors in Northern Cyprus. You'd better remember this.

Cheers Cooper, that will come in handy, save me going and asking my "ADVOKAT" as we don't use sollicitors in the TRNC as there arn't any, aint that right DC?

A police report is only required if you purchase a property and need to register it etc... To ensure you receive residency, I'd buy a Greek plate car first, before you apply, go across the border several times to ensure they realise its registered to you and is placed on the computer next to your names. When you apply for registry it will be granted inside 5mins guaranteed, ONLY because few hours later they'll be at your doorstep to get the car!
