Forgot to ask...what do you want the cover to do for you? There are two basic types of cover - solar cover to heat the pool and winter cover to keep debris out and stop kids falling in/drowning. Solar covers are taken off every time you swim and put back when finished swimming at the end of the day. Winter covers go on in the autumn and stay on until spring.

Hi Vaughan what I would like is the cover to be solar gain, reduce evapouration and keep out the debris when not in use. Can the summer one as you call it be left on through the winter? Also do they come on rollers? Regards Hutch

Hi Hutch, Solar covers and winter covers are really two different things for two different uses. Solar covers are light "bubble wrap" type material and can be stored on a roller for ease of use. Winter covers are very heavy and cumbersome and you wouldn't want to keep putting one on and taking it off. Google for more info on the differences. Sounds like you want a solar cover and these are probably bought cheaper in the UK than here. Might consume all your baggage allowance though!

Without a Roman end a 10x5m cover fitted is 2066Euros. With a Roman end 2156Euros. These aren't cheap but they are one of the best you can buy.

Hello I have been making pool covers and shipping them to Cyprus for 15 years There is a new material out that is made for the Sunny Cyprus climate. Its called Sol+ Guard. There are 2 types and for Cyprusyou will need the 180 version How much depends on the size of pool. You may also require a roller if its a large pool http://www.covers4pools.co.uk

Hi covers4pools, When you say " I have been making pool covers and shipping them to Cyprus for 15 years", do you mean TRNC or RoC?

Getting stuff to TRNC isn't the issue - it's getting it past the customs without paying 150% duty etc, that is the problem.

If you know someone in the ROC, get it sent to them UPS. Won't cost much to freight, no duty and you can pick it up and bring it over. That's what we have been doing for the last couple of years, works a treat!

Hi coffer, Are you advocating smuggling? As a company, we couldn't risk confiscation and the fine. Who would bear the loss? We aren't talking about a kilo of pork chops here.

Re: Msge 17 - I was of course referring to individuals, the item can be brought over within your green line entitlement. Ours was £125 for the cover, no roller etc, from a UK supplier.

As far as I know (I stand to be corrected) the green line limit of 135Euros applies to consumables (clothes, food etc.) not durables. I think TRNC customs would not consider a cover to be a consumable.

Hi there, I have a pool cover on a roller (with all the ties and bits n bobs) we had it brought out but it doesn't fit so is now looking for a new home. It's the heavy duty solar type (like really thick bubblewrap!) You definitely wouldn't even consider taking this as luggage it's the heavy duty type not the thin cheap one. It's about 5.75m wide by 11.8m long (can be cut down if too big) Never used (although the roller was 2nd hand when we brought it over. It's a certikin roller on lockable castors. I think we have a solar cover to go over it when it's not in use too. I have some pics somewhere, will e-mail them too you if you like. Regards John.

Sorry, forgot to say that the roller is adjustable too (it slides in and out to fit) Regards John.

Hi guys. How about £400 all in. It's located in lapta. A car with a roof rack (and some rope) should do it. Regards John.

Hi Vaughan, If the guy named after a virgin's bits doesnt mind you answering this You quoted against a 10 x 5 overflow pool with a roman end. If it is an overflow how does the cover stay on top without sailing off with those strong winds we often get?

Hi We bought our winter cover from Cyprus Pools and it is a really good heavy duty one. We wanted it to prevent children/small animals from falling into the pool. We know it works as a friend has the same one and a labrador dog ran over her cover and over the other side okay. Our pool is an 8x4 and it cost us £450 sterling and Cyprus Pools fitted it as well. It is fitted to the pool with metal springs and it does keep all the rubbish off the pool as well. This was a couple of years ago now and it is stored in our pool room unused as bought for when we didn't live here. Would consider selling if anyone interested in it. Can contact on my email travelbugs22@aol.co.uk for info.

Has anyone had a pool cover made here for a kidney shaped pool at a reasonable price. Or has anyone had one sent over from the UK that they have been happy with
