Hi Izzet I agree with Kevan, a good idea which will allow people, who are coming to TRNC for a holiday, what is going on, as well as keeping the locals up to speed. Thanks P&J

Izzet, Great idea! - I have submitted an event for inclusion. Could we have a prominent link to the calendar at the top of the page please? - there seems to be no 'easy, obvious' way to access it! Thanks, Keith

Thanks a lot everybody. Keith - There is already a link "EVENTS" next to the "FORUMS" on the top menu and actually its background colour is pale yellow so it attracts more attention. Do you see it?

Hi IUzzet, just a thought but would it be possible for regular weekly events (such as the Chateau Lambousa Market) to be automatically posted for each week?

The events idea was put here several times in the last 2 years and it has been on my mind as well. But when I get the handwritten and scanned diagram from tiger (prepared by her wife Alice), it was a motivational step forward which made this happen. So, without you this feature would not be existing today --- Lambousa - The reason weekly events are not allowed to be posted is that, we do not want people to put "infinite" weekly events because those events may expire after a few months, but they would still be displayed on the calendar, thus giving false info. I believe that if organisers (like yourself) really want to promote their events, then they should spend the extra few minutes to add their events and tweak them every time as well. I hope you understand. Izzet

I notice that the subject can hold around 34 characters - something to remember when you announce an event.

eager, I thought that! Then I realised that when you 'click' on one of the events, it takes you to a page that gives all the details, pictures, and anything else that the event 'sponsor' wants to give... Never mind Keith.

You are right glw215. An easy solution is to add it for the following X days. I added the event. If I knew how long it will last, I can add it for those many days too. The reason I preferred not to have a feature to show event lasting for X days was to prevent abuse. I'll rethink this if there will be many events like this in the future. Thanks for your feedback.

good luck Izzet, the only problem you will have is to get event organisers to contact you with the details, I am sure you and the board are not prepared to look through every article or shop window for an events advertisment.

Aslan - I am not sure what you meant. It is not me that will be adding the events. Any forum member can add an event. That's the beauty of it

Hi Izzet Firstly, EXCELLENT and about time!!! 1 - Make dates in the squares a little darker. 2 - A NEXT and PREV button to move backwrads or forwards through the months. 3 - Some way of having a recurring event. To keep typing it out time and time again is a real pain, especially if you are doing several different reccurring events. 4 - Button to Event at top of page and not down the bottom with the For Sale link. Perhaps a row of buttons for Events, For Sale, Wanted etc.

AndyP, 1) Yes 2) Yes 3) Nothing to stop the 'organiser' or whoever having a collection of text files, then all they have to do is cut and paste. Izzet said that he thought that if recurring events were allowed, then they would stay posted forever, even when the company or whatever went bust! Anyway, it's 'free' advertising - let them work for it! 4) The 'Events' button is the YELLOW one at the top - next to the 'Forum' button. Never mind, I made that mistake as well... Keith.

Izzet & Keith Regards my item 3 Perhaps have a limit on it for recurring every week for a month. I have just added 8 recurring events and even with text file open it still took ages. Oh Yeah. Why the authorise by admin??????????? More work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-(

Andy, First point implemented. Now, the dates a little darker. Second point, re next and previous buttons. Do you think is it necessary? We are already displaying the events in the next 6 weeks and when it becomes Monday, we stop displaying the previous week. Do people want to know the events that happened in the previous week? Let me know what you think. Third point, re recurring events, we're working on it.
