| On the post "Buying Property in TRNC", Flossie wrote: "We have stayed at the Riverside 3 times now and it is good basic accommodation. The food is not bad either. We are going out on 18th April and Riverside are picking us up from Larnaca at no extra cost. They even arranged the flights." | Found another review for you, from Holidays Uncovered.co.uk: "I travel every year to Northern Cyprus and although I have looked I cannot find anything to beat ... the Riverside for accommodation, the apartments at the complex are clean, spacious and in quiet relaxing locations within the lemon and orange groves, all have the basic requirements in the kitchen but anything you want just ask, you may not get it straight away but the staff and owners are very obliging. The Riverside is also one of the only places to boast an indoor and outdoor pool and a waterpark. You could just stay on the complex as it has just about everything you need but if you drive (and you really need a car due to the location)there are numerous historical sites and scenic drives that should not be missed. Enjoy! |

got back from riverside holiday village today 3/04 07 nice complex for families, room was a bit dark and very little water presure. The beds and towels were changed every day and they also have a 24 hour indoor heated pool, and two massive outdoor ones.Ideal for kids. We had breakfast there and it had a nice selection with full english as an extra if required. VERY FRIENDLY PEOPLE and we hired a car at a very good rate. louis

thanks to all for replies. Sounds like a nice place to stay. To be honest I would have like to stay at the Acapulco but it was too expensive. The water slides were what attracted me to Riverside, which my daughter loves.

Agreed - just returned from Riverside in April - second visit and accommodation extremely spacious, spotless and comfortable - brilliant value for money. staff lovely, pools fantastic - scenery and setting out of this world - whole place is enveloped in lemon/orange groves with the mountains as the backdrop. if you're after tranquility you will certainly get it. only word of caution - do not eat/drink around the pool - prices astronomical and the food is pretty poor! very good supermarket nearby! if you are going to cook the odd meal, ask for the stuff you will need well in advance - had to rustle up a curry and rice with one huge pan - the colander and smaller second pan i asked for never materialised and the spatula turned up the day afterwards! great curry though!

Just returned from the Riverside and enjoyed it as much as ever. We do not expect luxury but it is perfectly adequate. However beware of the sunbathing dogs. They move from chair to chair by the pool and I would not like to think what they leave behind! flossie

Keen buyer - i would prefer to stay at the Riverside than Acapulco (i have been to both) Riverside is much closer to amenities in Girne area. At Acapulco unless you had a car you wouldn't see anything of TRNC! Also i found Acapulco pool slides a bit too 'boisterous' for younger children PS Dogs were still sunbathing when we were there last week!

There are at least 2 resident dogs who are probably mongrels and very fat. They spend most of their time moving from sunbed to sunbed. flossie

We have also just returned from a stay at Riverside (28/4-12/5) I have to say at first I was pretty upset at the standard and did indeed move rooms three times until I felt comfortable although accomodation very basic it was clean and the staff all very friendly. Dogs still sunbathing round pool but were no trouble only blight on the horizon was the 24 hour cockerel if we could have caught it I am sure it would have made a decent curry!! Other thing to realise with this hotel is that it is pretty far out of town and a car is a must. Whilst there I reccomend you t ry the Ravine Taverna first class fish and chips etc - pool table and plenty of sky football. Happy holidays.

well weary travellers - all well and good but have you ever tried to get foreign food down two very hungry children who only want chips!!! I dont think so!! Also what do you suggest to entertain them all evening - this hotel had no entertainment whatsoever - the local tervernas were all a distant away whereby you need a car - all I was advising was that if this hotel is for a family then be warned - not all can tolerate the food that was on offer at the hotel - maybe keeping an open mind would help!!! This hotel only caters for Turks not much english food at all. But we are all entitled to an opinion whether you happen to like it or not. I can assure you that A KEBAB was not even offered whilst we where there and just to clear up the question once and for all ...yes ..we do have Turks in the family...

Hi Eager, I have been to the Riverside several times and never knew about the Brothel! Is it the building as you come in on the left. If so that used to be the casino. flossie

Sorry I agree with wearytravellers and livethedream. Bonnie how old are you children? I say let your children go hungry if they aren't prepared to try anything! Perhaps you should have gone to the south??

Good grief - leave the poor mother alone! I was also craving a meal of fish 'n' chips after 11 days in north cyprus and if I'd known I'd have been there with you Bonnie at the Ravine Taverna - one to note for my next visit. Why the criticism? Bonnie is right - the Riverside without a car is not for most British families. Like it or not, our children inhabit a very different world to the one in which we were raised. For some of us, this is why north cyprus with its lack of commercialism and technology is so appealing, but it isn't for everyone.

hi flossie ,the place in question is noroc holiday village. out of reception turn left follow road past restuarant, keep going, cemetry on right, as road bends its there on your left. owner of riverside took me there just to look. i think its a genuine holiday place as well. nice inside, pool, etc... at reception they have a book of the girls to browse through/ all like models, eastern european mostly. if you didnt know it was there you would never suspect anything, all very classy, discrete.
