Has the drought started again as no water in Lapta today and very low pressure most of the week, well at my villa anyway. Its a clever move by the belediye to charge a minimum of 15 tl now for up to 10 tonnes as last year only had about 6 tonnes per month anyway....................!!!! Roll on winter ONLY KIDDING FOLKS.

We in Karsiyaka are now under Lapta Belediyese and only get water every 3 days or so, so I think this is the norm. My neighbour was also moaning the other day about the low pressure so I think someone didn't turn the tap on fully as it doesn't always happen!

Since we moved into our house over two years ago we have had to buy water from private water companies for most of that time, think we got 6 tons total from the mains in all that time, we had been told we had a problem with pressure. Approx cost per year 500/600 pounds. Then we went over to Lapta in December/January and praise the lord........ we had mains water, not plenty but enough for our needs, well thats all come to an end now as since Beginning of April hardly any atall. And there was us thinking the high bills were over..........

I think it is out of order to charge for 10 ton per month whether you use it or not, where is the incentive to save water, but of course they are getting plenty of para off the people with holidays home that don't even have to turn a tap on and still pay pay pay.

I think that rationing the water supply is essential, so long as you know when its going to be on and how many days its going to be off! You can preserve water accordingly.

1 day on, 3 days off is ok, its just when it gets to 1 day on 10 days off like we had last year it gets a bit much!!!

Steve I'll bring my washing round to yours later, might as well use all your 15 tons eh!!!!

I agree that with the huge water shortage, then having water every 2 or 3 days now is ok, if we then have enough for the summer. If we know that we won't be getting it, then we should all be careful. It's no good saying we should have all the water we want, because if there is no rain and no water, then we can't have it. People should have thought of that before they all had swimming pools built. Sorry, I have a bit of a thing of so many people having pools when there is such a water shortage, and we have all the swimming water you could want in the sea.

I now live in Lapta - what a mistake!!!! Love the area hate the water problems!

Paying 27 TY a month as on builders water even though site well and truely finished - landlord yet to produce paperwork.

Receiving 0 - 4 tons of water a month! Paying for 10!

Got about 1/4 ton a week ago - pressure so low it took 6 hours for this to drip into out tank.

Phoned them today (Wed 15th July) and they said - 'oh sorry we have problems at the moment- something is broken - so cant turn it on for at least another 3-4 days!'

So keep your tanker numbers at the ready!

Apparently there has been a fire or something in one of the pumps!

I have been trying to ring this morning as the belediye should supply a tanker! But think there is little chance of that!

My tank is now down to 6 inches! Looks like there may be a pong coming from my house soon!!!

Most utility companies in the various Countries around the World I've lived in have a basic standard charge whether you use the product/service or not.

and ?

Lapta are the only area that charges for 10 ton of water per month - regardless of whether you use it or not - as far as I know - but when they do not turn on the supply for long enough every 3-4 days as promised then they are unable to deliver the 10 ton they are charging you for.

This is not a standard connection charge - this is a rip off!

Been up to Belediyse today and they are advising everyone who lives in Lapta there will be no mains water for 3 weeks minimum, possibly 5 or 6 weeks!!! This is due to main well being dry, pump broken on another well and the new well on mountain they still have 52 metres to drill :-(

Communal showers arranged on request ;-)

We live near the village and nearly all our neighbours are Turkish. Yesterday my neighbour told us that as we pay for 10 tons, if you havent used that much and have run out, you are entitled to ring the Belediye and ask for water which they will provide free. They then phoned them and lo and behold Lapta Belediye turn up and fill their water tank for free. I then walk next door and show him my bill (we have only used 5 ton) & ask if they will fill mine. I'm told that as I'm English I will have to pay but they will come back later anyway as they have other (not English) houses to go to first. Oh what a shock, they havent been back!

My husband is Turkish and despite numerous phone calls over the past 2 months - they have never given us any water - they just keep telling us it is our fault that we are not getting any water - a problem with our tank. This is not true and everyone else on the site is having the same problems!

But I will be sure to get him to ask about this next time he talks to them.

We call them tHe Namsoy liars. They speak with forked tongue. I have never known such an incompetent bunch in my life. They couldn`t organise a p+++ up in a brewery. It`s been a year since we had a big problem, you would have thought they`d had enough time to rectify it before the hot weather came instead of waiting for it to run out again. Plenty coming down the mountain outside the Belediye and to crown it all

they were washing the roads with a tanker two days ago!!!! I was told on Monday they would send a tanker but so far nothing.

Is it about time a mass protest and refusal to pay was organised?

I have a solution!!!

Why dont you all have your "water meters"disconnected

Run out water? No problem.Ring the local tanker, get your water, bob's your uncle.

Everybody is a winner

Problem solved

No more water problems

You missed the point, it's a double whammy, paying Belediyesi for water no one is getting then on top paying for tanker loads. Doesn't make business sense to me! Time for civil disobedience in your neck of the woods.

its 15TL (or 27TL in my case) for 10 ton from the belediye - no problems during the winter months - all 3 of them!

or 100TL for 10 ton from the tanker guys.................. (5 x 2 ton deliveries @ 20 TL a go)

100 lira a month is a lot of money when you live on local money!

So what can we do about it??????????

I'm stuck at home pregnant and not well - but would love to organise a mass demonstration outside their offices!

Might not do any good but would be nice to see the suffering residents of this area out on the street united and trying to do something!!!

What about the 'mossie truck' that should spray the Street, payed for every month even during the Winter months but never appears? Another phantom service, 'is there anyone there?!'
