But you will need some sort of papers between you and the person that is selling?

We bought a car in December and went to the seller's Muhtar with the seller to have a form completed. I don't think it cost anything. Then off to the tax office in Lefkosa, handed over the form and log book, new names added to log book, 250TL paid, took 15 minutes. It wasn't necessary to have the form notarised.

and don't make any mistakes on the form because if you do then you have to start the process all over again. I got our Muhtar to complete the form for me as he had to sign it anyway.

Tax office Lefkosa - From Girne take Lefkosa dual carriageway, at boulder roundabout go straight ahead, keep straight passing State Hospital on left, through mini roundabout and down to set of traffic lights where Maxxum Car showroom is on left (usually big queue of traffic here), go straight through these lights and take next left at Turkcell office into one way street, drive to end of this street and go right (virtually going straight ahead). Take next right and you will see wasteland/car park on right hand side, park there and the back of the tax building is at front of car park(low white building), entrance is on the other side. Once inside they have ticketing system but all options are in Turkish. Just ask someone which button you need to press.
