If you have Exchange Title Deeds then I would suggest that if you have the Kocan then you ARE the legal owner....but only in the eyes of the TRNC government !

Thx Cronos - you confirmed exactly our thoughts. One further thought - being exchange then if the GC seeks this back, then its no diff to Orams. So paying a lot of monies to get the Kocan - there is no benefit?Cheers

Girne....I don't want to be pedantic....and I'm not drinking a Mythos as we speak but although the TRNC is not in Europe, the land actually is.....it's just that the RoC does not exercise control over it !

Cyprus is not connected to main land Europe. From my atlas it is underneath Turkey and several hundred miles from Greece. Bit like the Malvinas etc. British goverments are two faced with Cyprus.

Cronos, the land is 500 miles from Greece & only 40 miles from Turkey so it will not be in Europe until Turkey says it is.

Tattlad....irrespective of its relative distance from mainland Greece and Turkey (can't see why this matters ! ) the land is IN Cyprus......which by nefarious means is in the EU.

Don't forget the kocan will only be for the land, not the house. You will need to get the house registered on the land.

Hi li n lee I'm sure your lawyer can advise you, but it's something you must do yourself. There are registration companies, they are meant to be 'fast-track, but a friend of mine is using one, and its everything but. As I said, the kocan you get initially will be for the land only, (all the builder is transferring is the land, unless you are buying a registered resale, its impossible for him to transfer anything else) if you look on land registry maps for your plot it will not show any buildings, untill you register them. It is then you find out whether your builder has got all his permissions and completed all the correct paperwork, if he hasn't, and they are not in your green file, then it's a big paper-trail to get them. No-one told us either!
