Is anyone going to the auction on Friday? Seen it advertised in the newspaper and though it was a good idea to try to kick start the market. Looks like there is a good selection of lots for sale.

Give it another 6 months, reserves seem high better deals with private sellers at the mo. Good to see D&B getting this off the ground may be only way to sell out here soon.

It'll be interesting to find out if many lots do actually sell and for what final price. They seem to be keen to rush bidders into signing binding documents on the day of the auction,no cooling off period by the looks of it.

This auction may set the guide prices for the future.....

Beware of auctioneers "trotting" bids up and spurious "buyers" creating artificial interest....

A word of warning..Steve Donaghy's company, Donaghy & Heath Developments Ltd. have failed to honour their contractual obligations to me and others. They have refused to provide mains electricity and infrastructure on my site unless further no contractual payments are made. They also have not provided de-snagging or aftersales service.

My personal experience would lead me to have no further dealings with this person or any associated companies. This matter was the subject of an article in the Cyprus Star last year which was not responded to by Donaghy & Beyler.

If anyone goes , it would be interesting to get feedback on the sort of prices stuff is fetching.

Ask them if they'll take a 1000TL deposit pending receipt of PTP !

After all , it's only a formality and shouldn't take long.

I think only one of the properties for auction is Turkish title. Will be very interested to know what happens.

What's the advice? If you don't have a PTP then don't part with your money. Make a bid by all means, but make it dependant with getting a PTP for the property and part with your cash when you get the title. If the seller doesn't like the idea.... Then the deal is "fishy" , or if not the get the seller to change the system.

I don't think auctions work that way. If you make a bid you are bound by their conditions which I presume you sign before being allowed to take part.

Meanwhile the 40,000 Turkish soldiers are taking part in the annual camouflage exercise so you can't see them anywhere near any of the properties being auctioned

Does anyone know what is to be sold at the auction on the 15th?

Is it a house only, or are there contents etc up for sale?

I heard that the sale is going to be held at the Malpas, is this correct?

Sorry for all the questions!

I think the last auction you refer to was the pre 74 english title villa and all contents. Villa sold for £195k. It was a lovely property. I also think it was the first property auction in NC.

I must pop out and get a CT before they all disappear - bloody British keep buying them all...

Did you spot me on Thursday night? I was with the crowd that came in quite late with Stacey - I was the one in the snazzy blue shirt!

I think its a bit naughty to do this when there are so many bods out there who cant afford to let their property be auctioned off. They have to sit and wait while D&B pump all their energy into this. I would imagine most of their current vendors fall into that category and are probably wondering what chance they now stand. Its hard enough as it is to sell but you can bet your bum D&B are steering people towards properties in the auction rather than the properties that aint.

I am a renter having been lucky enough to sell my property. Why dont people you want to sell their properties rent them out long term there is very little choice out there when you want to rent

Renting out is not a viable option for some people. If you are lukcy enough to be in a position to have more than one property (one for yourslef and one to rent out) then ok, but I think most people need to get their money and move on.

Hi just noticed one of the properties being auctioned is on marina villas,People should be aware there is no sign of this development ever been finished. This development is under the ownership of DH DEVELOPMENTS LTD(STEVE DONAGHY + WAYNE HEATH)STEVE DONAGHY is married to HAYAT BEYLER OF DONAGHY AND BEYLER ESTATE AGENTS.This would not be a good investment caveat emptor.

I went to this auction this morning. They sold a plot of land. Most of the lots did not even raise an initial bid. Plenty of people in attendance but very few buyers.

Prior to the sale, a 10 minute break was arrainged for after lot 15. Unfortunately the break came after only 20 minutes of selling. Auction over within the hour. I doubt if the commission on the sale covered the cost of coffee and cake.

Plan B now being looked into.

isnt buying here on the island just like a auction anyway?

you buy and take ur chance, i dont think many of us believe the speil that some of the agents come out with.

i think the auction idea will be put on the back burner and they will revert back to plan A!!

who knows what plan A was or is ?

Keith....I would imagine the £55K 1 bed flats will fare the same as the £120K 1 bed apartments in the UK (which now struggle to reach £95K ! )

I believe the £350 plus KDV cost of putting your lot in the auction, will have ensured a nice profit for D & B.

That goes against everything else I've heard or read on the subject firestarter !

Are you an estate agent?.....only joking.

Our house was valued at £485K 18 months ago.....we would have to pitch it at £399K to get a sale now.

To answer your question, of course they did not have a gun at owners heads!

I suspect, most of the lots entered, were not from the "owners" as we understand the word.

I never made a derogatory comment about the cost of entering a lot, so why the attitude?

Some sellers may be in a very desperate situation and therefore, they may have felt they must pay what is asked, otherwise they may have missed the boat. Many prospective sellers may have waited for the outcome of this auction before "risking" the costs.

How many more auctions do you think that there will be? Auctions thrive on matching buyers with sellers at the same time at the right price. Too many sellers and not enough buyers = very few/no sellers next time.

Have a nice evening.

Does anyone know why there was absolutely no interest in the property/land auction at the Malpas hotel last week? There were plenty of people with bidding paddles but no bids,i thought there would be a few sales as the prices were'nt too bad and some of the land had turkish deeds!! is everyone really that short of cash at the moment! Most of the people there were ex pats that left the uk when property had hit an all time high so there must be plenty of money floating about at the moment.

Oh and before i forget to mention, i had a great time over there last week! the weather was spot on, the efes went down well, the Ravine restaurant is still serving up a great food and who ever recommended Erols restaurant big thanks the lamb chops were GREAT!!!!!

Dan.
