Yes, I agree with you Littlenige but I think the Prime Minister or President has already said that the TRNC is a different situation to Kosovo! Regards

If the USA, UK etc recognise Kosovo then why not the TRNC? Both have UN peacekeepers deployed. Putin has said he will recognise the TRNC as he is miffed that Kosovo is being recognised. Will be very interesting as so will be the South Cyprus election. Martin

I've read it's too close to call. Hope it is not the current incumbent as the 2 challengers appear to be more receptive to finding a solution. Martin

Martin, I have also been researching the three main men and i agree with you on papadopolous,he seems to set in his ways and would sooner stall on the cyprus problem,so a change of leadership could be a better option for those that are looking to a solution.Though i suppose if you ask most turk cyps they would probablty say that it wont make a difference who wins.

Kosovo's "self sufficieny" will be as a direct result of grants and funding from the EU and the US. Keep your fingers crossed that Papadop gets in and hopefully by the end of the year we will be operating in a bi-communal existance. This is the most realistic way forward for us Turkish Cypriots.

Following a few years of little or reluctance to acknowledge the international importance of the 'Cyprus problem' by many prominent world leaders and organisations, the circumstances of/and related world events of 2008 may make it the year the subject and need for a solution will raise its prominence in international terms that we will at last see some way forward. Lets hope.
